I am not sure we were supposed to laugh but we were all cracking up here. My hubs nearly choked on his cuppa.

Pick up trifle, moan about the consistency of the jelly, pause, throw jelly at the wall. Pause again, do a fake sob, pause and run into the kitchen. LMAO.

Best bit of Corrie all week.

I love Dreary and Anne Kirkbride but her breakdowns and crying scenes are getting unintentionally (I presume) funny each time they happen.

Dreary is hilarious, I love her. AK can do comedy really well but I am not sure that was the idea tonight.

It still made me laugh though.

It was funny because she can't do crying

I couldn't stop laughing either.

Haven't enjoyed anything on Corrie so much since Neil was singing that Andrea could make him whole again

Unintentionally funny scenes are just about the best thing on Corrie just now.

I honestly don't know because everything else going on around her was intentionally funny with the dialogue, including the "custard should wobble" line. I think the intention was that amidst all this humour you get a dramatic, upsetting breakdown but part of me can't help thinking they all know she can't do them effectively anymore but the audience enjoy them so are writing them in on purpose as an in joke.

Dreary is not a lady to be trifled with.

Oh that scene left me cackling. Her attempt to cry was horrible.

I think it was supposed to be serious and heartbreaking for Deirdre - when really it was quite hilarious. Why is she having a breakdown about Peter anyway, I know he's not her son but did she bring him up and were they close when he was younger?

It was SO funny. All she needed was the chain belt swinging and that would have scored a 10 for me.

It was the lack of hundreds and thousands that set her off

It was hilarious and the trifle spent a good 30 seconds in the air before it hit the wall, Its a shame Harry Hill won't be mocking it

Don't think they were, actually until a few years ago there was quite often a bit of an edge between Deirdre and Peter. They weren't the best of friends.

Today was a bit like the Manchester tart episode, funny in a way but the acting wasn't great.

How old is Deirdre?

I know Peter is 49 (having been born in 1965), and Anne Kirkbride is 60.

If that was real life, would it feel strange having your stepmum only 11 years older.

I think Deirdre was born in 1955 so she'd be 10 years older than Peter.

A little I guess but he was in his mid teens when Ken and Deardre married and she was quite 'mature' for her years. Already a divorcee with a young child and she acted a lot older than the 27 or so she actually was.

Interesting to think that there is about the same age gap between Deardre and Peter as Peter and Tracey.

She can't do crying but she certainly can do flying trifles! The thing I am hoping for is that they will now get rid of that awful wallpaper!

Lol, that really is a shame, Harry Hill would have had an absolute field day with that one.

Shes not a terrible actress. Its just Acting styles were different in the 60's and 70's. Not many 70's and 60's characters and shows made it past the late 80's.
