Donny Osmond, guest judge
lundavra
09-10-2014
Donny Osmond said on The One Show that he is appearing as a guest judge on the programme one week.

Radio Times
Quote:
“Donny Osmond to guest judge on Strictly Come Dancing

The singer and heart-throb will appear on the judging panel for one week only, as well as give a performance of his own”

Digiguide have an oddity in their listings, I thought he was just back for Christmas and / or Children in Need?

Quote:
“GAME SHOW: Strictly Come Dancing
On: BBC 1 Scotland HD
Date: Saturday 18th October 2014 (starting in 9 days)
Time: 18:30 to 20:25 (1 hour and 55 minutes long)

Eight celebrities are paired with professionals in a ballroom dancing contest. Hosted by Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly.
(4 Star)

His inclusion should finally make even the most ardent viewer aware, that the BBC don't take this show as a serious competition, but more as a bit of an entertaining pantomime, much as they try to convince people that it is.

I'm sure I heard on Sunday's results show that Donny Osmond is a guest judge for one week only for this Saturday's show. Does anyone know if he's a fifth judge or is someone having a week off judging. Although I like Donny Osmond I don't personally like the idea of having guest judges. I'm for keeping the same format. If it works don't change it.

Be a turn up if Mr O comments on each dance seriously and knowledgeably, offering support to the contestants in a way that's realistic and constructive.

Just saying… we don't know what he'll be like as a judge… I read somewhere that he was taking the time to learn about the contestants and their progress so as to be able to judge where they were in the comp and not be staring at complete strangers. That sounds like he's got a serious head to me.

I read he is a 5th judge for week 3.

He's my favourite DWTS winner.

I agree but I'm worried what he's going to score, I don't want him to give out tens for example when other people give 7s or 8s.

As I wrote, I pasted the following week from Digiguide because I was puzzled by reference to Bruce Forsyth. Probably a mistype.

That was a mistake!

Oooh maybe they're trying Donny out for presenting duties. I remember they use do do that in Blue Peter in the 70s 😄

I hope Donny is kind to Judy. I get from her Twitter that The Osmonds and The Bay City Rollers were definitely her era.

His comments last night seemed to be quite insightful for a guest on the Friday Night ITT Panel. - at least as good as those provided by the current panel of judges on the main show. Perhaps just a tad american smooze for my liking but that's still better than Len's eastend-cheeky-chappy-geezer persona and Craig's torturously exaggerated pronunciation of the letter 'A'.

I agree. Hopefully he will be a breath of fresh air and the show will be better for it. I like him and think he's good value (if you know what I mean) whatever he is on.

As for his guest comments on ITT, I'd take those with a pinch of salt.

I've no idea of course, I don't even watch that programme, (I can't stand that hyper-active "I'll have what she's having," Zoe Ball) but I very much doubt if the producers would let him come on the show without a pretty good idea what he was going to say. I'd never say the BBC were unprofessional, although some of their decisions sometimes amaze me.
There's no way they'd want him to appear as a bit of a "numpty," through a chance or unscripted remark.

I like Donny. If it wasn't such a blah word I would describe him as 'a nice man'. He won DWTS probably more on popularity than anything else but he took it seriously & didn't moan or complain about work commitments which were considerable as he had shows in Vegas to perform at the same time. On ITT last night he showed that he knew who the contestants were & it was obvious that he had met them & seen them performing. He said that from a judging standpoint he felt having done it himself that he understood things from the celebs point of view. Have no idea wht he will say or score but I am looking forward to seeing him.
