It's going to really annoy me in the coming weeks! This is the second time she's tried to talk to him and he eats his way through her words.

He's probably assuming it's the shock of a gunshot on the square as that's a pretty big deal. Just hope sooner or later she speaks although she is now reminding me of she osman when hassan died.

He's always doing it, she plays second fiddle, he may love her but clearly he don't have much respect for her.

Spot on. IMO Shirley is his number 1, then Tina and the kids with Linda trailing a very poor last. He drives me bloody mad. I don't think he realises he does it and would probably deny it. Let's hope that when he does find out about the rape he puts her first for a change!

Why assume Why not just let her speak

I was never much a of a Mick fan but I cannot abide him now. He has so much time for every waif and stray but zilch time for his wife. The Shirley infatuation is frankly weird. She's his nut case sister who he barely cast eyes on for years prior to him moving to the Square. So what's the big deal about her doing a runner now

Also, the way he seemed to think it was reasonable for Phil and Sharon not to tell the police what Shirley had done He is truly a nonsense ridiculous and pathetic character. I wish he'd run off with Shirley. Linda is far too good for him.

Linda so in love with Mick I think she blind to it, some woman can get like that without realizing it.

Ditto, I said this in another thread. He even put Ian Beale over her!

I've always thought that he could be a bit more respectful towards Linda.

It's a common (annoying) device in EE, along with people calling someone's name after they've stormed off.

But distressing in this case.

I remember a line from Mick earlier this year, he said he will always pick Linda and the kids over Shirley!

I think its a few eps before Shirley wanted her name above the door!

Very unrealistic too. Linda said "last night". The shooting took place during the day. Yet he still assumed.

It's going to annoy me too, make me dislike the characters involved who are acting dumb as hell not realising that the previous happy upbeat personality is now a completely broken woman.

I agree, and as if Dean's "mystery blonde" didn't make it completely obvious. Especially when he told Mick she was a redhead and he found out he was lying.

I'm a Mick lover but do find that ridiculous and maddening. It'll probably get even worse between now and whenever Linda tells anyone about the rape.

I think Mick still sees Linda as the vulnerable teenage girl he fell in love with and treats her accordingly. The other Carters follow his lead in failing to respect her as a wife, sister-in-law and mother. Linda is not foolish or self destructive like Mick's hot mess sisters and is usually a happy person so I think Mick believes she doesn't need him at the moment. He is the type of man who needs to be needed.

What an interesting post. I've really warmed to Linda and am beginning to think she deserves so much more than her horrible family. When Linda was on the bed holding Mick's hand as he woke up surely he would have seen how sad she was and reacted Well anyone else would but he just went back to sleep

Mick has been getting on my nerves for a while now but he has really surpassed himself in the wake of Phil's shooting and Linda's rape. Previously I hated what he put his family through (especially Linda) in order to be Saint Mick and cover up Ian paying Rainie for sex. I hate the way he sticks his nose into other people's business and the way he lets Shirley talk to Linda like she's shit. But these last few episodes running around acting like Shirley is some innocent lost child and trying to get her off the hook (something that he has passed on to his kids) has shown him up for the clueless dolt he is. Poor Linda is suffering but he barely notices. He thinks he can pat her on the head and everything will be fine. There's an order of importance in Mick's life and it is this.

1.Making himself look like a saint.
2.Shirley (and maybe Tina)
3.The kids
4.Linda

It's never been more obvious than this week.

This is seriously irritating me too. He shouldn't have tried to speak to her about it whilst she was at the foot of the stairs, right behind the bar either. Also when she'd just got out of the shower and looked in such distress he didn't notice. Surely if they've been in a relationship for that long he would be able to spot even subtle changes in expression/behaviour let alone massive ones like she is displaying.

totally agree with all the responses. was watching the other night and realised Mick never actually listens to what Linda says & if he loves her so much why hasn't he picked up on how sad she is. it seems he only notices when she doesn't react to him sexually. why Shirley takes priority over everyone i will never know.

BIB yes I am infuriated with Mick. I don't understand why he feels obligated to sort out everyone else's problems on the square and he doesn't seem to realise that his "wife" is in shambles. And his relationship with Shirley just screams weird to me. How can he tolerate her badmouthing Linda all the time, and he has this strange affection for her that just makes me uncomfortable.
