Tonight's episode (9th October) was set on Sunday 28th September, the day after Phil and Sharon's wedding.

Walford is now 11 days behind the rest of the world; it no longer follows the laws of soap time, for soon either it will be permanently out of date or a period of real time will no longer exist (with no effect on story time).

However, the episodes have been phenomenal even if the jump "back up to date" will likely never be directly referenced on screen.

You reckon? I would like the jump to be referenced but soaps rarely do this when it gets very behind.

It's shocking! We've barely moved since DTC began.

I believe there was a thread not long ago which said that in 2007 around Phil and Stellas wedding there was weeks of episodes centering on about 2 or 3 days in total.

They will. Doctors does it a lot.
EastEnders will be 'Real time' again. This is not the first time EastEnders has had a number of episodes set on one day and then the follow ups being the next day.

I'm saying the story itself won't jump a week later I don't think. I'd be impressed if it did.

At some point Linda will wake up after a night's sleep and the date will be a week later, but she'll feel the same. etc.

There was no major cliffhanger tonight!! The last few weeks have had episodes end on major cliffhangers for them to continue when the next episode begins! I'd imagine it will be 2 weeks later from tomorrow onwards!

This means we will be having Christmas day when Eastenders will still be a week behind

Ha ha! Reminds me of when Sunset Beach had a wedding day that spanned over about two weeks.
Sons & Daughters used to skip time by putting on-screen: "Two Months Later" or whatever.
Crossroads Mark III did similar and had a caption: "One Year Later" in which the entire Hotel, staff and management were all new!!

If you add up all the days Eastenders have skipped from the start its roughly 1995 in Walford. We're living in the future

It's a bit like when Neighbours has its season finale, and it's Christmas, but when it returns picking up the cliffhanger (and being the same day), Christmas is no more.

Usually in these incidences, it's best not to reference the date.

Crazy isn't it!

Would be so cool to get a "2 weeks later" caption.

I suspect if we kept track of the dates from New Years Day on screen, for the whole year, we would very quickly find time is screwed up, but we would find that out about the other soaps as well.

I don't think the jump in time was acknowledged as expected

No because when twar said Marta had been around for 2 weeks it was only about a week after the wedding so they skipped one of the weeks altogether.

I've often wondered if they bother keeping track of the days in soaps. Sometimes on a Monday it's obvious that a few days have passed since Friday's duff duff but have they really skipped a week or so where we're supposed to believe nothing of note happened, and it's now more than 3 weeks since the Linda and Dean thing?

I suppose it's a soap, it doesn't matter.
