I thought it would be nice to TRY to find some positives in Hollyoaks considering how poor the show has been, especially this week. So what characters do you LIKE- and what would you like to see happen to them to move the show in a stronger direction?

Despite the poor writing at the moment, I do actually like Patrick and Maxine. I did like Sienna but not sure she can be redeemed. I would have Maxine leave Dodger and focus on current friends and making new ones. Potentially she could do an adult learning class or get a part-time job.
I would have Sienna confront Patrick and Patrick face up to what he's done. I feel a basement scene with Patrick as the kidnapped is due.
In general I like Peri and her relationship with Tom. Also really like Leela.
Ziggy's hilarious- a rarity in Hollyoaks at the moment!
There are very few characters that I like these days, and none that I really really like. The only ones I like are Jack, Dirk, and Myra, and to some extent Leela, Cameron, Phoebe, and sometimes Ste. Darren used to be my favourite character - and I suppose I still have some lingering fondness, for old times' sake - but, since he got with Nancy, he's been changed beyond all recognition.
I like the Blakes the best, i still think they have mileage.
The Lomaxes were ok until they killed off the parents and brought in the dreadful Cameron and made Leela forefront.
I like Grace and Trevor and the only McQueen I like is JP. Only Roscoe is Robbie.
I like Darren still, and Dirk and Cindy.
Get rid of the rest of the Roscoes, McQueens and Lomaxes (bar Teegan), Cameron, Sinead.

I've come to like Grace and Trevor. I like nice Grace. The only McQueen I like is JP. I used to like Myra but she's been annoying me lately. Still like Jack and would like to see him used more. I used to like Darren, but do not like him with Nancy.

I love the Blakes and I think that they could keep Patrick going especially if they follow through with his therapy. He has a lot going on in his life, with Maxine and the baby, Sienna's troubles, Dodger being against him and Nico in his life.
Sienna is a tricky one, I would hate to see her leave, but it is unbelievable that she is getting away with everything all the time, but apart from wanting to see her with Nico and learn more of her history with Patrick, I don't know what else they can do with her without her going away for treatment and bringing her back with her being well and truly over Dodger, so she can move in another direction.
I think Nico is a great character and she is very like her mother, but other times she does know when things are wrong. Shame that they all just accepted her like she has always been there, instead of showing the whole family adjusting to Nico coming into their lives and Nico adjusting to them.
I also like Maxine, but she really needs to be single, she should stay with Dennis and Blessing and focus on herself and her baby and trying to deal with Patrick being in her life because of their daughter.
I am not a big fan of Dodger, but I would hate to see him leave. He plays his part and I would like to see him realise that he is quite similar to Patrick with how he is treating Maxine and of course he will find out about Nico, which will be interesting to watch (even though they shouldn't have gone there). I really don't like him being the father of Theresa's baby though, I hope this is a lie.
I don't like Darren (and I think he and Nancy need to split up for good) but I would like to see him with his brothers. They rewrote history and then did nothing with it, now Darren is living with his brothers and we still haven't seen anything.
I have begun to really like Trevor and Grace (and thanks to them, also Esther), Trevor knowledge of everything he great and something he should never lose. They need to stay away from the gangster rubbish and show them putting that life behind them while trying to make a family. They are also a good comedy couple and have interesting scenes with other characters like Grace with Nana McQueen and Esther and Trevor with pretty much everyone. Have them interact more with others.
I wish they hadn't have done this mental illness storyline with Cindy, it's not interesting to watch and once it is over it will be over.. until they want to cause more drama. Cindy and Dirk are great together and I would have liked to have seen them be drama free for a while.. maybe just with money trouble storylines and Dirk (and Dennis) thinking up ways to make some.

Holly and Jason - I love them as a couple and they are probably my biggest draw to the show at the minute. I do always feel a little nervous of reading/seeing spoilers about them as the writers seem to always be on the verge of splitting them up. My only real problem is how underused/developed they seem to be. Jason's body dysmorphia storyline really feels like it needs to step up a gear or two and become a more cenral and all round bigger storyline rather than the odd scene here or there. As for Holly i feel like shes never had her own proper storylines. Shes involved in Jason's and Cindy's and shes constantly used as a filler character while we endure weeks of Sienna-Maxine-Nancy-Mercedes-Sinead-Grace centric episodes but as a character she just feels like a clean slate with a lot of potential thats not really being utilised all that well. I'd love for them to elope to Gretna Green (can't believe rubbish couples like Ruby/Jono and Phoebe/Vincent almost did it yet two teenagers who seem genuinely in love and mad about each other haven't). If Cindy's storyline ever gets a bit better (started well but has gone off the boil recently) i hope we see more depth added to Holly and for her to feature in some much bigger storylines that help develop the character into one of the 'main' players not just a character people can take or leave.

I think he's very old school Hollyoaks comedy which is nice as practically everything else pre 2012 days of Hollyoaks seems to have been erased. I haven't really liked any of his relationships on the show (Ruby, Frankie(cringe), Leela or Tegan) as he just doesn't seem suited to any of them and they all lacked any decent chemistry and just felt thrown together for the sake of it. He wasn't given enough credit for the scene where he admitted that his dad died in his arms when he was just a kid as i thought that was really moving. I'd maybe like to see him with someone fiestier and womanly (Porsche maybe) and have him spend more time with his brothers as he seems to be the on his own with other characters a lot of the time.
Joe - i do actually like all the Roscoes, although Robbie and Freddie aren;'t really favourites of mine, but i just think Joe makes a good alpha male type on the show but he's not really been used anywhere near as much as Freddie and his sole purpose seems to be to be the unwitting third person in the love triangle with Lindsey and Freddie. I like him and Lindsey as a couple and would prefer them to remain together over Freddie/Lindsey but i'd like him explored more as a character in his own right, they always hinted he had a dodgy, dark past but so far he's just a tough but fair nice guy. A bit of revenge on Freddie wouldn't go amiss either.
Trevor - i've always liked Trevor but the Fraser/Grace aspects of his storylines always made my fast forward through him as he didn't share scenes with anyone else. I still don't like him and Grace as a couple but it is nice to see the more human side to him being explored. My biggest gripe is that the only other character he seems to speak to recently other than Grace is the most annoying and pointless character still in the show; Esther!
Diane - not a popular choice but i put that firmly down to the writers trying so hard to make us love Sinead/Tony together and love Myra's constant nastiness that they've made her as unsympathetic as possible. Well i still like her and would take her over the dreadful Myra anyday of the week. Shes a brilliant actress and if Dirk and Cindy ever break up (hope they don't but they probably will) i'd love to see Dirk/Diane together as he'd treat her like a princess. Failing that Rick/Diane might make a nice couple and might show a softer, less sleazy side of him.
Dirk - whats not to like about Dirk (apart from his poor choice in friends)? Hes such a lovely character but again just used as Cindy or Dodgers handbag whenever they have a drama. He never really had any reaction to Will going crazy or Dodger/Patrick it'd be nice to see a storyline center around his family being there for him rather than him always having to be the rock for everyone else.
Blessing - i didn't think i'd like Blessing but the transgender storyline has been one of the best storylines this year (not that its had any quality storylines to come with it). The character is really in your face but endearing at the same time and she has both potential and a good backstory which make her very exciting to watch and develop.
Peri - i was never overly bothered by the Lomaxes although i'd prefer if they hadn't killed Danny and Sam off just to create the 'cuter' family of Cameron, Lella and Peri, but i do really like the character of Peri. Shes annoyed me lately mainly because shes spending too much time with Cameron and he annoys me in general, but i think shes a strong little actress and a good character that could have a long future if developed well and used right.

I haven't watched it for about a year now, so I'll judge the characters from when I watched it compared to what I've heard (not ONE of them sound likeable now)

Oddly Mercedes Mcqueen, I know shes leaving but since Browning she has become a much better more rounded character, shes got friends, she has started to care for people, shes much nicer than she was, I would like her to settle down, get a job and care for her family
John Paul Mcqueen, Ive always loved him, and he is one of the only characters that you can relate to, hes moral, despairs of his family, but always looks after them, hes not nasty or chavvy like the family and wants to better himself. He always sees the best in everyone, even Finn after everything that happened he wanted to help Finn. I would like him to get his life back, and start to live, be a 25 year old, go out, play football, have a job
Darren hes always been there, he has grown up a lot, I would like to see him be a single father for a while and kick nancy out, bond with his brothers, have some time with out a dominate woman pushing him around

I LOVE Mercedes this year. She was good for a long time but from 2011 - 2013 she was just horrid. I think getting rid of Browning was the best thing that ever happened to the character. This year none of her stories have revolved around a man (apart from a two week stint with Freddie) and she's such a better and less disgusting character for it.

I like Dennis, Darren, Nancy (most of the time), Ziggy, Peri, Maxine, Frankie and Jack and that's pretty much it. Trevor when he's not with Grace and Tony when he's not near Diane or Sinead!
For all your good intentions in starting this thread Goosebee its clear most people are not able to just be positive without being negative !
I'll accept all characters who played by good actors, there are characters I wouldnt like in life but are acted well enough to make them watcheable and then there are characters who I like, would like if they were in my life and are well acted.
