Doctor Who should/does have a younger audience than Strictly and it's current timeslot is ridiculous.

Admittedly I'm coming more from a Doctor Who is on too late than a Strictly is on too early direction but I think Strictly shouldn't be on for more than 90 minutes anyway.

My line up would be something like:-

6.45pm - Doctor Who
7.30pm - Strictly
9.00pm - Casualty”

does it I know plenty of 4 - 6 year olds and above who watch strictly, most would not be allowed to watch Dr Who

Doctor Who is very dark at the moment, it needs to be on at the time it is.

I think the time slot is just right. It's supposed to be a family show that people watch with their kids.

I agree its too early. I have so much to do and by the time I get around to sitting down to watching it, its already half way. So now I record it and watch it at leisure. I make sure I don't read the spoilers.

Doctor Who at 8.30 is ridiculous! This is a programme watched by 6 year olds! If it's too dark for children too watch it, it's got a serious problem.

it is too early Dr Who should be on first many kids are not the least bit interested in dancing and its for far too long

I agree Dr. Who is on far too late now. Much better to have it before Strictly - as another reality show.

Doctor who never used to be on in Autumn
And why am I waiting so long for the lottery results. I'd like to find out sooner rather than later if I am a millionaire!

Nothing has gone badly wrong with Doctor Who, but it has become a touch darker, a bit more adult in some of its stories. From the ratings thread, it does still have a younger audience though.

But I don't see any reason why Strictly should not have a younger audience too.

Rather difficult to fit in 14 or so couples into 90 mins without everything being rushed.

Is that simply anecdotal though? There seem to be plenty of young children gaining an interest in dance through watching SCD. There is no reason at all why it should not be seen by young children.

Er, because a lot of kids watch Strictly and, in some homes at least, they have bedtimes at a reasonable hour.

Yes, Dr Who always used to be on in the spring. Not sure why they've moved it to Autumn really? It was fine where it was.

Just have fewer contestants and get it over quicker...would suit those who watch with small children have a short attention span anyway and enable them to film the results show at a time gets the audience home before dawn.

And would not stretch bedtime (I know that's an old fashioned concept) for older children follow on with Dr Who.

Err more kids watch Doctor Who..
And Doctor Who has always been primarily a show aimed at children. It's near watershed time is stupid.

If Doctor Who is moving away from its primary audience that is a serious problem yes.

Its been a kids/family show since 1963! Now all a sudden it has be a near watershed programme? That's stupid.

And if you cut the padding you can reduce Strictlys time. Or reduce the couples. A 2 hour show is too long

Do people still watch programmes real time if that time isn't convenient for them? The beauty of sky planner - I watch it when it's convenient for me.

Surely with Sky boxes and recorders people now choose what and when to watch ?

Have to admit I do prefer to watch live programmes like Strictly in real time.

I don't like all the filler & cheesy sketches - so I give it half an hour or so after it starts so I can fast forward that stuff.

Maybe when we have fewer couples as they have to think about recording the results show which if they put in on later currently would mean it would finish around 11pm or some silly time
