At last ... a thread that doesn't pick holes in every last aspect of the show and celebrates it for what it is .. Entertainment!

I know. I really do not understand this habit of finding fault. The show isn't perfect. Nothing ever is. We are not perfect as human beings. But we can't seem to simply enjoy something without seeing some negative in it.

Of course, critiquing the dances is different. That is what the show is about, but everything, from the presenters, the band, the song choices, the singers, the dresses, etc as nauseum is vilified and picked apart.

Personally I find this incessant negativity exhausting. I have enough negativity in my own life without going looking for it in TV shows!

Claudia's antics are still making me smile this morning, a few cringworthy dances, some wonderful dances and discussions in the house whilst watching ... that is all a TV show can do and Strictly does it very well.

The popcorn incident cracked me up! And then the puns and the Superman pants. Loved the entire show!

The popcorn down the cleavage creased me up.

Be fair!

This isn't a "fan club message board," people will praise and criticise. It's only natural.

It would only be "exhausting" if you were actually obliged to read every negative comment, but you aren't.

It isn't difficult to, "scroll down and ignore them."

Try it with this post.

Absolutely, I totally agree!!! Last night's Strictly was one of the best I've watched in quite a while, from both the overall Entertainment factor, the Dancing factor, the Presenting factor and above all else, the Music factor.

I will comment on the Presenting factor: -

Claud was so funny that when she did the pant's thing towards the end, I spat out some chocolate I was eating, because I laughed so hard! It wasn't just the pants, it was her style throughout the show alternating stupid (but funny wise cracks when reading the telephone scripts) with adlibs, which really would put "himself" to shame. it was the interaction with the Celebs and Pros, something which she does so well. The pants thing was the icing on the cake - had she not been Claud (thanks producers, for letting her do her thing), then it may not have been so funny on its own. Claud is a talent which needs to be part of Strictly - she proved it endless times when she did "It Takes Two" and now she is developing her role similarly on the main show, which is something which makes me laugh so much! This is so refreshing for Saturday night TV.

Yes I agree with what I'm reading that Tess is playing second fiddle to Claud but someone has to read the auto cues and keep the show together - she should keep to this with an air of confidence rather than "get involved" with Claud's antics to provide the overall balance, which IMHO the pair are doing so much better than when Himself was in the show.

Just wish Claud and Tess could do something different, to put their take on "Keep Dancing", at the end of each programme. Keep it in but put "their" style on it, whatever that may be.

I might find negativity exhausting but I do so love condescension.

My feelings as well, Claudia has always been wonderful to watch but I think Tess needs a little more time, I'm actually dreading the CIN and Christmas shows because we will have to put up with 'Himself' again.

One of my favourite shows ever. Right mix of comedy and good/bad dancing.

I think Tess and Claudia are a vast improvement on Brucie and Tess. Tess is much the same as ever, but working with the wonderful Claud has helped lift the double act!

While I understand your point, for me that's half the fun of "slating" programmes like Strictly. Quite a lot of my posts might be construed as unduly negative (particularly on the NAT) but most of the time it's exaggeration for effect. If I go into an OTT rant about the excessive prop usage, unrecognisable dances, lunatic scoring and general Antonness of last night's SCD, I'm venting spleen on something relatively unimportant which then allows me to be calmer and more rational about genuine annoyances in my life. It's actually quite entertaining (for me at least) to make an observation I'm only mildly concerned about in a way that implies it's really ruining my enjoyment of the programme (most of the time it's really not). Take me with a bucket of salt. Or if you're Tristan, take me roughly over the... (sorry, got a bit sidetracked there).
