I like her but does behave more like a 13 year old girl than a woman about to turn 21. She dresses like a stereotypical adolescent tomboy and spends all of her free time with her family. She shows no signs of shyness or social anxiety so why does a 20-21 year old woman have almost no social life? However, when she did venture away from her family she met Dexter so I can understand her hesitance to meet more of the locals.

All she needs is as space hopper and she could take it around the square whilst having her hair in two ponytails with pink ribbons.

That stupid red basketball outfit the other night was laughable. If they want to portray her as a tomboy why not put her in jeans or trackies with a West Ham shirt, polo shirt or a fleece? That NBA look is risible.

I'm indifferent to Nancy, I don't love or hate her but I do like her, if you see what I mean? She is probably my fave of the Carter kids.

I don't think there is anything wrong with how they dress her. It sends the message to the viewer, esp, the younger viewers that you don't have to conform to what society or celebrity culture dictates you 'should' wear.

I know where they get most of her clothes from, as I own a few of the top and t-shirts she has worn. But they have taken it a bit too far and she has become a caricature of herself lately. She's become less and less feminine as time has gone on, and that is solely down to the writers and wardrobe department.

We have to remember that this was a girl who ran off to get married. At one time she must've been quite sociable, into the opposite sex etc. but they've turned her into a reclusive homebody.

I don't remember ever seeing Shirley without her black boots & hair in her eyes. And Linda wears the pink track suit or pink shiny leggings nearly all the time. All the characters have their "look" and Nancy is no different. I like her...she has a strong BS monitor with everyone on the Square, which I think will lead to a good, dramatic storyline for her in the future.

But that could make sense. Okay she came to see that Wayne (was it) was a bit of a t+++++ that didn't seserve her but she liked him enough to want to marry him so the relationship breaking up might hurt - perhaps her being such a homebody is a reflection of her licking her wounds. Also, she was estranged from her family when she was with Wayne - perhaps she feels guilty about that so wants to spend more time with them to make up for it?

Jonny and Lee are hardly out all the time either, maybe they're just a family that like spending a lot of time in each others company - such families do exist. Plus her job is in her home so it's natural she wouldn't spend as much time away from it as other characters.

It's sweet that they enjoy each other's company but now it's getting excessive. The Carter children are attractive young adults who work in a bar. They should have loads of friends. Their lack of social interaction is hindering their development as individual characters.

I'm inclined to agree that after 9 months they should be interacting with other characters now for their own good to gain some independence from Mick and Linda but I don't actually think it is that unrealistic. Having worked in a pub, I know that often the last thing you feel like doing when not on shift is going out socializing with people, especially in other pubs. They get loads of interaction with other people whilst they are tending bar. Yes it is work but it's not like they don't get to stand chatting to the likes of Dexter, Fatboy as they're waiting for the next customer requiring service.

One of the most likeable characters on the show. I think she's great.

I think she's great - best of the Carter kids (Johnny's cool too); I do wish they wouldn't pair her up with Dexter though - could of been interesting to of explored her and Tamwar - an unlikely pairing maybe? But that could of been the appeal.

Awww, I love her. I think her relationship with her family is amazing. She loves them so much and is so protective of them.

I think she's a breath of fresh air.

She's not too bad but she doesn't act like a 20 year old at all. Plus her clothes are getting a bit ridiculous.

I love her too. She's a very refreshing character to have round (tomboyish but gentle, loving and friendly to her family, and wise), her acting is about the most naturalistic on the show, and she gets some of the best, most real lines (about Phil lack of obvious beauty, and 'Why does the woman always get the blame?' or something like that at the Shirley/Phil affair reveal). She gets to say what people are thinking (or should be thinking). I'm not a fan of Lee but I think the little scenes showing the three siblings winding each other up, but basically getting on, add a fantastic bit of texture to the programme.

But like everyone else I don't relish the idea of her with Dexter, and would much prefer it to be Tam - but am hoping this is a long game.

And as for her being with her family too much - I just accept stuff like that as the necessary lack of realism that goes with a soap, like always working within a stone's throw of your front door, and family and partner relationships being so entangled and incestuous that sooner or later everyone gets to be more or less related.

Her clothes are awful. They look too big for her. Maybe that's the fashion, but I think she looks stupid.

I have to say I agree that her choice of clothing is outrageously awful. I wish she was a goth or something instead but if they are going to make her 'tomboyish' then she could still dress better than she does.

Other than her clothing I really like Nancy and wish she was given a bit more to do.

I like Nancy she has a great personality, not keen on her with Dexter I'm hoping her and Tamwar will eventually get together. It would be nice to see her going out with friends now and again she obviously likes a party, could her epilepsy be a reason she stays in so much? that story was only briefly touched on.

I like her now. She's very natural and has a genuine warmness to her.
But I agree that her wardrobe is atrocious. I know she is a tomboy and likes to dress in those NBA clothes but no one over the age of 12 would walk around in an actual full kit.
It would be much more realistic if she was wearing a jersey with a pair of jeans and trainers.
I did cringe when she appeared in that full basketball kit, shorts and all, the other night.

If anything she acts older for her age. She's not into the usual dull drinking, going out, flirting with guys who she doesn't even have anything in common with stereotypical young person dross that soaps portray. She's focussed on the family business and is showing a good business head already. Music Karaoke was all her idea. She thought of it, designed, printed & distributed the posters, booked the compare as well as co-presented it. She is showing more ambition than many of the young people in soaps do. Plus it's not the usual stereotypical 'the only way to show that your ambitious is to go to university' that soaps portray either. There's many ways for ambitious young people to get ahead, and you don't need to go to university to run a pub.

I've never known an 11 year old to do all this, so I don't know where people have got that conclusion from either.

When I was her age I much rather stay in, watch a film, write and drink tea as well. In fact, I used to make up excuses in order to stay in when people asked me to come out to visit the local town's tedious night club.

There is nothing wrong with being introverted either. In fact I normally find that they are more interesting than extroverts. Introverts don't need an audience to posterise in front off in order to feel satisfied, they can make up their own entertainment without the need for for the mindless small talk & drivel from others, they are more likely to have something between the ears, they are more likely to be thinkers with a wide range of interests meaning you can have great conversations together, and form a relationship which could develop into something more. And that's another thing, Nancy isn't like Lauren, she doesn't just sleep with people just because she fancies them (although going with Dexter may change my mind).

I'm not sure why you would ever think otherwise. We've only see her fancy her husband to be with whom she had sex and now Dexter with whom sex / heavy petting seems likely. I don't see anything special in Nancy tbh

This its ok for her to talk like she is 6 but if Fatboy and Dexter open their mouths all hell breaks loose lol. That said i am very indifferent to her. Do not hate her but do not see the massive hype about her either. All this talk about her being one of the best chracters on the show is confusing as she has hardly done anything interesting Must say i do like the clothes she wears though for some reason seeing Nancy (not Maddy Hill) in a dress would be weird lol.
