EE: Who can take down Phil Mitchell?
RupertF

After Sharon's revenge was revealed as ... not much, is there anyone in the current group of characters who is capable of taking Phil Mitchell down?

Maybe it's time to see another Mitchell - one of his cousins via Clive Mitchell - who can successfully wrestle the role of patriarch from Phil.

Steve McFadden is the only member of the cast who has contractual rights to his character storylines. If he doesn't want Phil to be "brought down to size" then he won't be.

DTC has no say on the issue.

I'm not even sure whether this is true or not... based on the past 4 years it seems totally feasible! Even if that were the case, Mr McF must be bored of playing the same character with broadly similar storylines each month?

His squeezes could get together from his past as an act of revenge, heralded by the ghost of Stella.

I suspect Ben will be the one who eventually takes down Phil. Ben is disturbed and while he loves his father he also resents him. Phil is considered an untouchable character so when Steve eventually does decide to leave I think Phil's son and heir is the only one who would be allowed to defeat him. There would be poetic irony in Phil Mitchell, a man fiercely devoted to his children and his family's reputation, being destroyed by his only son.

I dare say you're right.

I wonder if Karl Howman's playing a Mitchell. He'd look the part.

Archie Mitchell completely trampled all over all of the Mitchells, so did Chrissie Watts. It's not as if Phil has never been beaten, it's just that he recovers from it as well.

Phil never technically beat Chrissie or Archie either, other people took them down.

I'm past caring now. Sharon should have done it but wasn't allowed to. Let him carry on wearing his cloak of invincibility and making everyone into Mitchells like an outbreak of Ebola.

Chrissie only got the better of Sam Mitchell. Phil, Grant and Peggy weren't around then so it would likely have been different if they were.

Den Watts is the one who properly got the better of Phil and that was only due to Steve McFadden taking temporary time out from playing Phil.

I've always found Phil more interesting when he was on drugs or booze and therefore wasn't the main man of the square

I don't mind phil being top dog even if it borders on ludicrous at times. I like hard man phil much better than weak, pathetic phil tbh.

In reality every man over 20 in the square, and quite a few of the women...but it's not allowed.

Nobody can take down the King of the square , apart from Phil himself .

You could bring in RoboCop, Predator and The Terminator, and Philth would still be the top dog

Exactly and it is totally pathetic and embarrassing.

I am currently watching the series Ancient Black Ops on Yesterday.

If the Assassins, the Three Hundred, the Sicarii, the Ghost Warriors, the Berserkers and all of the most lethal killers in history that will be featured in future episodes descended upon the square TPTB would have them immediately shitting themselves as Philth wheezed, coughed and waddled towards them.

It damages the show in my opinion.

For me, the most interesting thing for Phil would be for him to really be brought to his knees, so we can see him work his way back up again. That would be interesting to watch, rather than see him get away with so much stuff.

Knock him down, slowly let him rise.
