The scene was fine but there should have been a warning "this episode will contain disturbing imagery"

I really didn't think it was that bad, of course it was shocking to see, but that's the whole point of the storyline.

I'm sorry but at 8 o'clock children under 10 should be in bed! Regardless of this, a warning was made at the beginning of the episode and nothing of a violent or sexual nature was screened.

In all honesty, I would allow my child aged 10 or over to view this scene and I would happily explain what was happening as rape, consent and healthy sexual relationships aren't covered enough (or in a lot of cases at all) in school.

These are just examples of bad parents. Children below 10 should be in bed and for those over 10, parents should be prepared to educate their children about what they have just seen.

Absolutely sick of this mock shock. Any casual soap fan is very well aware of upcoming storylines, especially controversial ones, It's simple, if you don't want your precious children to be disturbed by these plots, don't let them watch the show.

I remember when Steve murdered Saskia, so that was '99 maybe? I was 10/11 and my mum stopped me from watching it because she knew someone was being killed. This was before the internet became what it has and she even knew what was happening so people can know before the episode what is happening. I think EE did a good job of signposting what was going to happen and it's not like EE doesn't have a history of such scenes.

Exactly, you want to know the fundamental difference?

Your mother = good, diligent parent
PoV parents = bad parents always looking to blame others for their own shortcomings and failures.

Bit harsh?!

Great post. Its down to parents to educate Children on why what Dean did was wrong.
No way did ee go too far. They have done much worse and had less complaint.

Yep it was known for ages what would happen and i think even one of the trailers pointed to it. People just love to moan. I bet none of these moaned at the sight of Ronnie crushing Carl etc.

Exactly, it was in the press for 5 weeks before it was shown.

Perhaps a little

Yeh, like DTC said - if children walked into the room, they wouldn't know what was happening. If the children asked their parents, the parents could lie or make something up.

Why does it have to be said, It's common sense to expect it during a rape storyline!
What do people think it will show?

I'm sure the broadcaster said something before the ep started, also there were lots of advertising.

There was literally nothing in it. Just Linda seemingly ok with being bent over. Half the scene was focused on a plant lol.

I find the people who complained over this rape stuff quite bemusing, it was well publicised, yes they could have been warning before hand I suppose. But in a programme with 2 murders a shooting and affairs, lies, cheating etc quite frankly I don't no why these people are watching let alone letting there children watch, the fact is much worse things are shorn in some pg films, I wasn't going to watch as I new this kind of thing usually upsets me. But I'm glad I did the women who plays Linda has been brilliant and I almost felt sorry for dean befor he did what he did, these kind of things happen every day in real life and it's the stiff upper lip and Mary Whitehouse brigade that stops this being talked about quickly enough to make convictions possible, well done eastenders

Points of View is a joke nowadays. "When I sat down with my 9 and 11 year olds to watch EastEnders..." I switched off at this point. Her saying "children watching have lost their innocence" was the icing on the cake.

Later in the episode "Strictly Come Points of View" complete with graphics and a 'judging panel' of viewers was the cringiest thing I've ever seen my whole life long.

Move on nothing to see here just a bunch of uppity idiots.

Perhaps they should just move it to 10pm. The 10pm repeat did well on BBC 3. Means they could just go the whole hog and have graphic scenes and Dot swearing.

Dear People that Complain about Everything on TV,

Soaps are fictional. They are also trying to bring attention to certain storylines that may be hard-hitting and tough to watch.

This isn't the first time that soaps have shown something like this, and it won't be the last.

If you are of a sensitive nature, stick to Flog it or Antiques Roadshow. But then of course, you might be upset if the antique clock doesn't fetch as much as you had hoped...

From, everyone.
