Had a discussion with my parents during tonight's EE about the whole 'who killed Lucy?' storyline and how we found it.

All of us agreed it's still incredibly gripping I like the fact that throughout the last six months, it's played a big part and a background part in episodes.

Tonight's scenes with Emma and the DC were really good. I love scenes like that.

It's boring AF ATM but it should get better nearer the time! There's far more interesting storylines, that's all I'll say! I do think that it was a really silly storyline to celebrate the 30th though!

Lucy's killer was definitely in tonight's episode.

Lucy's death week was fantastic, I was truly gripped during Lucy's last moments on Good Friday, so full of mystery and anticipation, loved it. The aftermath scenes were some of the best I've seen in a soap, they were emotional, heartbreaking and brilliantly acted.

I'm kinda glad it's been a slow burner, as it has allowed other storylines to take the forefront, while going back to the murder case every so often.

I do think they should have shortened the storyline though, announce the storyline in February, have Lucy start her business in April, anger some people and be a real bitch to everyone throughout the summer, giving people a real motive to kill her (maybe bring in one of her clients that she stole money from, or a business rival that she conned) then have her be mysteriously killed on Halloween night, leading up to the reveal of Lucy Beale's murderer on the 30th anniversary in February.

That's supposed to be the mystery though, that we can't see any motive for her murder. If she'd spent six months making an enemy of every single cast member then it would be the usual whodunnit.

It's disappointing, as it's not being treated as a central point of the show. I believe Christmas is where it gets exciting.

I really like it and I can't think of a more fitting one for the 30th. the Beales are Eastenders

Its a good idea. Any ideas what they will replace it with once its all over? I think things like this really make people tune in.

I forget it's actually supposed to be a murder mystery. Max and Emma are more interesting at the moment.

Somebody else needs to 'get it' otherwise the reveal will be anti-climatic as it now appears the killer doesn't even know.

That's what I love about it apparently the reveal will be more emotional than as an audience, us hating the culprit!

What makes it good is that she didn't go around making enemies in the last few months on screen. We now over time see more and more unravel - though I do think it needs to pick up pace. There needs to be a big twist pre-Christmas to keep the intrigue going until February.

It's been fabulous, it's one of my favourite storylines that Eastenders has done ever. I love the fact it is a slow burner and I can't wait until the reveal. The fact no one really has an idea, make's it even more gripping.

The week in which she died, was an excellent week. The aftermath as well was incredible and Phil being a shoulder to cry on Ian was one of the best scenes all year!

I'm a bit concerned that we're six months into a story that climaxes in four months and we've still barely touched the surface of the great mysteries of that night, other than Ian bumping uglies with Rainie and Billy having a go over a bag of chips. It's easy to forget we've already had a whole 'wrongly imprisoned' arc with Jamie Lomas' character whose name I can't even remember right now (did ANYONE really give a damn?) considering the main plot threads so far have centred on Ian and Max getting their ends away. If the mystery was to last for another year I honestly don't think I'd mind as despite what I've said I have actually liked what we have seen - I just don't think we've seen nearly enough considering February is drawing nearer and nearer.

As rushed as it was I loved the lead up to the death, then the scene of Lucy's body lying on the common. Fantastically well done, and Hetti's acting seemed to suddenly improve a lot. Since then... I've been really disappointed for the most part. The funeral was really underwhelming with no sense of drama (a very common problem in soap funerals, bizarrely,) and the investigation... weird. I hated the stuff about Ian and Peter's grief, I just couldn't get into it at all. I didn't find it sad, just annoying. As well regarded as Adam Woodyatt's performances seem to have been by most people, I'm sorry to say I found them laughable. And I did laugh, I wasn't saddened at all, I just found it ridiculous. That episode where it started off being silent for ages was weird and very annoying. I'm hoping things will get much, much better as the story progresses.

I was expecting a monthly twist.

Then again we do have Ben and Jay burying the purse and phone in the allotments - which we know gets dug up soon.

I've loved it so far. To me, it honestly doesn't feel like it's been that long since she died.

I stopped watching it just at the time Lucy got killed, too dreary and boring. I read today that the "reveal" is not until February! Too long to wait, in my opinion.

Lucy murder is about giving EE a central focussed storyline rather than being a ad-hoc/disparate cluster of stories. EE had lost focus and whilst some stories were ok for a few weeks it soon fell back into nothingness again. This isn't the only story going on and it shouldn't be but it provides a continuing underlying narrative to hold the show together over the year. The way that so many characters / families are involved in the story to a greater or lesser extent pulls the 'Square' together. It was the central storyline in early summer and will be again in the run up to the 30th. In the meantime other stories are filling the prime slots. It does seem that the attention span of a portion of the audience is getting ever closer to that of a gnat and they want constant high octane drama done and dusted in a few weeks. That isn't what soaps were about for decades and those that went down that route like Brookside found that it wasn't sustainable.

The pacing has been dreadful, and it's seriously lacking in excitement.

As I've said before, their biggest mistake was telling us the story is going to end in February. We can pretty much disregard anything that has happened/is happening currently as a red herring. They're setting themselves up for an anti-climax.

Awful pacing. Added to the fact that I never really accepted Hetti as Lucy anyway, the only way I'll care who killed her is if I like the character responsible.

I like it when it's on and when it's in the background (but not forgotten about) but it has been too long. I would rather have had lucy killed in late June/early July as I quite
Liked lucy (I liked her when she came back)
