DTC has for the most part dragged EE up from its heels after Kirkwood and Newman almost destroyed it but the thirty something EP has made two big casting errors- Lee & Donna.

Lee -

I am not sure if it is Danny Boy Hatchard or the poor research into the character of Lee but he has bland written all over him. I thought we were going to see a character with depth whose experiences on the front line would shine through in his character on Civvy Street but Lee has been a major flop for DTC, utterly pointless and played by a very poor Actor, why?

Donna-

I agree with Scrabbler, token character shoved into bitchy scenes with Bianca and played by an awful actress. There has been zero character development with Donna and few people actually care about her.

Lee & Donna should never have been cast in the first place.

Yeah but its still pretty harsh.
You'd get annoyed if someone made this about Cora.

I am sure I read somewhere that a major plot for Lee was scraped because the BBC were scared it would be controversial.

Yes I would but Ann Mitchell can act.

Lee could have been an interesting character but Hatchard drains him of any life but I also blame DTC because the character has been poorly researched.

Tonight's episode was boring, simple as, I played on my phone, DTC confused me, one minute he's great, the next he's shit, it's really weird! I'm waiting for Nicks return now!

Lee - yawn.
Dexter - yawn.
Tamwar - yawn.
Emma - yawn.
Peter and Lauren - yawn.
Abi - yawn.

And that was just tonight's!

I wouldn't miss Donna one little bit, he's introduced some really shit characters, and there's deadwood brining the show down!

Anyone who tells me Danny Boy Hatchard can act need to watch this clip...

I strongly respect the army, but I cringed so much at his portrayal, it's quite hilarious!

There is still deadwood in the show that DTC needs to acknowledge.

Donna- tokenistic.

Lee- maybe he killed Lucy so that'd give this no mark a purpose.

It's making me angry, because although it's improving, it's still got a long way to go, I think DTC needs to listen to fans more like Kate Oates:P

I expect the show to be more like this

Bit too much younger cast members and deadwood these days for my liking:P

Lee was brought in as Lucy's killer and Donna is part of the revival of the market.

I'm sorry but there is no way people should dictate to a producer and it would be utter madness if he did listen.

I'm not sure she was meant to make an impact. She's there to build up the market community. She had scenes with Terry and Bianca but those characters were on their way out. So perhaps the show has had to change what they're going to do with Donna.

The market was dead before Aleks, Donna and Pam showed up. Kat and Bianca were unwatchable bullies and Tamwar was dull.

The actress who plays Donna tweeted a couple of days ago that she'd just finished filming a new series of ITV drama 'Vera', which judging by her twitter, she seems to have been filming since around July. It's possible that that's why we haven't seen very much of Donna yet.

I still think Lee has potential if given the right material.

I do like his relationship with Whitney though.

Tamwar is dull but he is a Masood and that is why he has been spared from the axe despite the fact DTC has ignored the Masoods for much of this year.

Donna brings absolutely nothing to the show in my opinion.

He is just another Tyler/Joey clone and to be honest he is boring to watch.

I disagree about him being a Tyler/Joey clone

I've seen small snippets of a more enthusiastic personality but it's not being shown and he's more background at the moment.

wish they would have done a mental health or aggressive route with him considering being in the war. It would have brought a more dark side to him. I still see potential but it's being wasted so far. I still hope they give him something interesting thoug while maintaining his relationship.

I saw Danny in a production of Jomathan Harveys "Beautiful Thing" earlier this year, and believe me,. HE CAN ACT! He was awesome, and I was sooo chuffed for him when he joined EE, I don't get all this "character A don't do much so is crap and boring" talk on forums... I would rather that than them be stuffed in our faces night after night like Kat and Alfie used too be, or the Brannings ... I am sure Lee and Donna will have their time too shine...
