How clean is your local takeaway - FSA site

Food Standards Agency site. It makes interesting reading. I have lots of takeaways near me but the closest - those within easy walking distance - are some of the worst in terms of overall cleanliness and hygiene.

We have a local Chinese/chippy.
I don't usually go there, but last week fancied some chippy chips, so went in.
One person in front of me got served and I could hear that the man serving had a cold, sniffing as he was speaking. My turn, and I could see his nose dripping, I walked out in disgust, and will never set foot in there again.

Have just checked it out on the link given above, hygiene rating of 1

Yuck Yuck Yuck

Should I report them? although it was now a week ago.

Have a search on your mobile phone app store as I've got a good one for Android that gives the hygiene rating of either restaurants near you or you can search.

Between that and Trip Advisor I search when I'm in a new town and want a a decent takeaway/restaurant.

Someone posted the link to the FSA a few years ago, and I am hooked on it. I even have it on my favourites list.

I check it out now all the time. Luckily our favourite restaurant has a 5 out of 5 rating. But one of the indian takeaways we used, which did look a little filthy had a 1 rating. I have never been there since. If we decide to try somewhere different I always check out the FSA first, whether it be pub grub, restaurant or takeaway

I actually felt sick , as my Indian we used had even won a award in the area only had a 1 star rating and we used it at least twice a month for a year .

Lot of places missing from this unfortunately including the indian takeaway we use .

It's relatively new (has only been open a couple of years) but I have put in quite a few places that have been around for well over 10 years and they come up as "no results found".

Has been useful though. We will no longer be using our local kebab takeway as it only managed a one rating .

A lot do not come up by name, if you put the postcode of the place it will show up
