Impossible to tell from that description, but it is probably to connect to 4G so that the traffic lights can be remotely monitored, phasing changed and faults reported back to the highway engineers.

Vodafone 4G has reached parts of Derby.

Was in the city centre today and managed to get 59 megs down despite the coverage checker telling me it's not planned yet!

Thinking of getting a 4G phone at christmas - I'm from Derby too - so glad to see the coverage is getting better!

After months of waiting it's finally getting there at last...

Seeing as EE, Three and o2 now offer 4G LTE in Derby Vodafone are finally catching up.

Coverage is still patchy but am guessing more sites will go live soon closing the gap.

iGeek2014- Yes there are a number of other sites due to go live with Vodafone 4G in Derby over next few weeks.including out as far as Alvaston,Allendale,Shardlow,Mickleover and Markeaton. There will also be an expansion in Chesterfield as well

Fingers crossed that includes Oakwood and Chaddesden then.

I can get around 2 dots on my iPhone if I stand in certain spots in my garden on 4G; then it falls back to 4G.

Funnily enough the suburbs you mention above are the ones they have either performed maintenance on recently or is currently subject to maintenance.

I have the Samsung Note 4 version N910C which is compact-able with LTE-A cat 4. I am on the Vodafone UK network. I am aware Vodafone will soon be switching on the LTE-A cat 6 in the near future, does anybody know this will also apply to LTE-A cat 4.

Update: I have manage to swap my Note 4 from the n910c LTE cat 4 version to the N910f LTE cat 6 version with carphone warehouse as I told them they sold me the wrong version of the phone. I can now confirm that I am seeing 4g+ in various places around greater London but it pretty wide spread in Croydon area including Selhurst and Norwood.
