Bean: I dont think that you understand why many people are dismayed at Davina. Trying to defend her actions calls for rebuttal, by yourself, of the arguments put forward by those who watched Friday night, not to simply say that Davina is wonderful.
Davina is a professional game show host and as such should NEVER be seen to have favourites (whether she has or not), and the reason is simply that the Host/Hostess can influence the perception and final vote of the GBP. On Friday, Davina, in many ways, showed her partizan approach as she has done for the whole series.
Davina has become far too involved in the programme action and her asking Makosi to show "remorse" demonstrated that she was not observing or commenting on a gameshow, but made viewers believe that Makosi was being accused of a crime.
Davina demonstrated her partiality in refuting Makosi's claims in favour of the version claimed by "her friend Craig" and in secretly informing Kinga of how she had fared in the vote against Makosi (2% less). She did NOT inform her of how she fared against Eugene, for example.
Many people were already aware of Davina's bias against Makosi long before Friday and that the association between Davina's view and the edits for Makosi since poolgate, were cut too close for comfort and certainly failed to show neutrality.
Davina HAS, in other evictions, demonstrated her ability to control the crowd and can ask for hush with a simple wave, she has done this several times before. Claiming that C4 and Davina were unaware that Makosi would recieve a hostile reception is hogwash, they read the forums too. C4 needed to and had a duty of care towards Makosi, as they have all the housemates and making necessary arrangements to minimise the effects of a baying (and perhaps racist) crowd was within their responsibility. And in that, they failed.
Davina has been with C4 and BB for long enough to be able to run the interviews under her own conditions, and no number of excuses can ever mitigate against her total failure in all respects on Friday night.
Davina was unprofessional, took delight in vilifying Makosi, showed partiality towards her own favourite housemates, lost the plot when asking for "remorse" and failed miserably to engender any sense of a momentious BB Finale. She has instead attracted personal and professional accusations, done BB a great disservice and demonstrated bitterness towards one particular housemate.
Davina should never again be allowed to commentate or conduct interviews on Big Brother.
