I wouldn't have believed it possible yesterday, but I've been thinking about it all day... you know, it's pretty rare for someone to have such a negative edit on the first task without being fired. Usually with weak candidates, their incompetencies are at least held back a little in the early tasks so there is more entertainment value about them later. Sarah's edit was so bad that I can't really think where they can go with it now. They've already completely milked how awful she is so much that there isn't anything left to keep us enthralled in the remaining tasks. She can't be any more memorable for being dreadful than she already has been. So I was wondering if they emphasised her negatives for the shock value when she completely turns it around and gets to quite a late stage.

I'm not certain of this by any means, it's just something that has occurred to me, and I think it's a distinct possibility.

You might be right, it certainly seems the only way is uphill for her from now on.

However I got a definite vibe of Rebecca from last year (Rebecca was far far better ofc), I think she may be singled out with or without cause if the girls lose until LAS is sick of seeing her mush. So atm I think she will be middle of the pack.

I say that and she'll probably fook up really badly tonight and be sent home.

It's definitely possible, but I don't think it's likely for two reasons.

Firstly, I got the impression that, aside from all the dramas surrounding Sarah (and, my God, they were legion in number!), the girls just kind of got on with things and so in order to give us something to watch from the soon-to-be-renamed Decadence, we got the full Sarah.

Secondly, I'd buy into a redemption arc if it was just a case of her trying too hard and overdoing it - as Ricky Martin did early on two years back. But she unrolled so many bad ideas demonstrating such a fundamental lack of business nous - the sliced lemons, sexing up her team, her sub-team selection method, slicing the lemons, the £250 asking price for her cleaning kit, did I mention the lemons by the way? - that, for me, there's no way back from this. Ricky was OTT and rubbed people up the wrong way, but he demonstrated enough basic sense that he was never not credible. I'm not sure Sarah can ever be credible now.

Having said that, she'll win now ...*

She's credible if her business plan is short skirts and seminars in how to slice lemons.

In answer to your second point, there have been a lot of people who have thoroughly messed up one task, especially one that they Project Managed, and done well in all the rest... it just has never happened that Task 1 was the task that they messed up.

It's hard to believe that Sarah was even picked for this programme. She seemed to have no business acumen at all !!

I have no idea, but I'm predicting she'll go in the middle.

So- she might remain as objectionable as last night- or it may be edited in such a way we all grow to love her.

I wouldn't waste too much time worrying about it though. It's entertainment. For instance, I would be very surprised if Stephen goes before the half way point. He's too 'irritating/entertaining' so any idea that people get fired solely on merit went many seasons ago.

Clearly not so much picked for her CV as her EV (entertainment value)....

But you could have said that about Bilyana in Series 8 and she went in Week 1. Or, in fact, many of the Week 1 casualties. Or Melissa in Series 6. Or numerous others who went out early.

I can't believe that someone that stupid could be anything other than a plant. Either by the production team in order to shake things up a bit in the 10th year, or just, y'know...an actual plant. Because I'm sure my aspidistras have more business sense than her.

I'm going to make a prediction.

This certainly isn't a 'spoiler' because I have no inside info whatsoever, but it wouldn't surprise me if Scott goes tonight. (of course- that depends on if he is on the losing team)

The reason is he was the one briefly mentioned yesterday as the one who didn't do very much. I correctly guessed he wouldn't get brought into the boardroom, (otherwise we would have seen footage of him 'doing nothing') but he could be getting lined up as 'the lazy one no one will remember if he goes early.

With 20 candidates this year, all they can do is introduce 5 main characters (plus another 5 a bit) yesterday- so there are still plenty we don't really know at all yet. But very little is included for no reason- so with no inside info at all, I reckon if he is on the losing side, Scott goes!

I got it right, but for the wrong reason.

Particularly when Lord Sugar wanted the other guy to be project manager, and he ducked it, I thought 'If the boys lose he will go instead' In the end they both did.

Oh, for sure. But often in such cases it's been a single error of judgement that seems ridiculous with the benefit of hindsight (or even at the time).

Sarah showed a fundamental lack of both business and common sense on multiple occasions in the opening task. When someone tries to sell a tenner's worth of cleaning gear for £250 or thinks there's added value in slicing lemons (or that people would want to buy them), it's going to set off alarm bells in Sugar's mind.

Like I said, I could well be wrong (and I'm only a few days ahead in terms of having access to episode spoilers). But on the evidence of the first episode it feels like a real stretch.

I found it strange that Lindsay and Sarah were called out for not doing anything, but Pamela's been invisible for both tasks. Is she going to be the Helen of the series? Ignored because she's actually decent and just gets on with it without any drama?

Interesting. Maybe you're right. I don't think there is any doubt that there are still a lot of very competent people on the show - even in the majority, probably - but their competence is overshadowed by the ridiculous nature of the tasks (no one could do a really amazing job of something that complex in the time they have) and the way that the edit shows things that the producers think the viewers will find entertaining. Personally I prefer to watch people doing well.

Good point, would you watch a TV series about a firm of accountants quietly getting with tax returns and audits? Nope me neither.

The PM in the first task always gets a lot of air time, and the edit tries to balance it out so you think one team will win, then the other. This time I thought it was obvious the t-shirts would hold the key.

Pamela has mostly been shown constantly complaining about people/things at the moment, but we've seen her do little on tasks. Although didn't she make the first girls' sale on task 1? That's not to say she isn't doing anything, just that we've not been shown it. Other than not thinking much of Sarah and obviously being happy to share her opinion loudly, there's not much either way to give us a clear view of her yet.

It's hard to tell. So often the early episodes focus on the boardroom regulars and the big characters that the quiet ones don't get airtime until later on. That doesn't necessarily mean they're good, though (although it often does).

Quite a big call saying she is the Francesca (S9) this year...

I think she will survive for a while but will be fired around week 5-7
