Just watched the show and my god both teams were terrible

I'm struggling to remember a poorer PM than the boys team today and the pitch made by Daniel was absolutely awful. Plus the decision by Rob to not be PM after he was more or less told to do it by Sugar was also really bad.

The girls also came across as badly organised and not really know what they are doing but at least they got some orders.

The show itself was brilliant tonight due to the ineptness of both teams but I really don't think I've seen a poorer task performance than the boys.

I've always thought that the third task of Series 3 was the worst. Both teams were hopeless and had no strategy or direction.

The invention tasks are probably the hardest and the boys original idea was bad and what they ended up with wasnt practical but they had to come up with something on the spot. The girls had a good idea in making a light jacket that you can heat but made it far too fussy and tacky with lights and solar panels.

In terms of sustained, all-around incompetence by both teams, I'd say Renaissance in the Marrakesh task still have it. When someone's deemed the best member of a team because they "only" bought some obviously fake tagines next to the much bigger mistakes, you know you've failed badly.

But in terms of performances by both teams, yeah, this week might take the biscuit.

Considering the other team had the woeful "singles day", and Jenny admitting she wouldn't buy the eco- preachy cards after she came up with the idea, I'd say it's a close call between this week and that for worst weekly performance by both teams.

Yes the boys team was the worst in Apprentice history. No orders - don't think we've ever had that before. We've had teams make a loss on selling tasks but they still sell a certain amount but spent more money than they sold

But no orders = zero sales. Worst ever.

I'm no Apprentice historian, but I'm sure that we've had a task where neither team got any orders before now.

Also, in one of the teen series there was a team that made a cardboard table to take camping and store boardgames in. It was an absolutely awful product. And, despite the girl pitching the hell out of the product (was her name Zoe? She was a very impressive candidate anyway, especially at pitching), they got no orders. Because it was a cardboard table to take camping with you and store boardgames in.

Two words... SECRET SIGNALS!

It really was one of the worst perfomances by both teams in the shows history. None of them were in any way good. None of them had anything to do with sports either!

The girls ideas weren't too bad but the PMs inability to make decisions and the other girls unwillingness to back down from their ideas is what made their product so bad. If a product tries to be all things to all people, it will most likely be a mediocre product. The jacket was too fragmented with ideas that it just came across as tacky, especially with the lights. Decision making is a fundamental skill to have in business and it just wasn't there.

The boys were bad all around. Scotts idea wasn't too bad since it had something to with sports but he didn't fight for it and lost all motivation. The idea they were going with was also terrible, the technology wasn't there for it to be made in a day and I don't know how none of them thought of that. The idea they went with was awful but it was better than nothing I suppose.

All around shoddy performance by pretty much everyone except Steven who had the good sense not to talk at all during the episode.

The original suggestion for the men's team was really good, I thought. Only they didn't have a plan-B, couldn't think of one on the spot, and came up with something monumentally hopeless.

I do think that telling the team from John Lewis, with their intensely middle class family values, that 'the age of privacy is over!' is a contender for the worst single line in a sales pitch. If it would have been possible to place minus orders, you could see that they would have done it.

I thought it was interesting that the men's team did nothing but fight, with all those clashing egos, and the women's team fell down because the PM had to agree with everyone all the time.

Scott and Nurun were desperately bad managers. Neither of them made informed decisions and were very bad at pitching however Daniel's pitch was easily one of the worst in Apprentice history. I actually thought there were some good ideas on girl teams but the product ended up weird- if they'd stuck with a heated jacket or a changing lapel colour, they might have got on better. I like Katie and James so far; they are straight talking and visible whereas a lot of them, it isn't obvious what they do. It seemed like it was only Ella and Sanjay's pitches that were any good on this task.

Nurun was one of the most scared looking contestants I can remember. She looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights a lot of the time. Scott was probably scared as well, but his way of dealing with it was to shout a lot without ever saying anything.

If you're calling their original idea bad because it wasn't possible to make it overnight, then surely you have to call Scott's idea bad, since it's not actually possible at all. How is an item of clothing supposed to count your calories for you? It can't be done.

I didn't like Scott at all. Peevish, sulky, childish, defensive and punchable. Awful PM.

He reminds me of that actor/character in Dead Poets Society. The one who betrayed his friends to save his arse.

What would happen if both teams didn't win any sales? How will Sugar make a decision if this happened?

For me, the worst performance is still the 'cleaning product' task from Series 6. Octi-Kleen and "The Germianot" make the products tonight look incredible in comparison.

And actually a team has got 0 orders before tonight too - and in Week 2 as well. The 'beach book stand' from Series 6.

And the 'I wouldn't wear it' pitch was brilliantly cringeworthy - but is still miles more competent than the infamous 'Cat Calender' and 'Biscuit Role Play' ones.

If there was any doubt that the 'orders' tasks are fixed, it's obvious now. If there had been any semblance of reality, then both products would have garnered zero orders. The 250 orders for the girls product was utterly ridiculous, and in real life would have resulted in the purchaser being fired as being utterly incompetent.

It's definitely up there with the worst. With phrases such as "Privacy is history" and "I wouldn't wear it in public" being made and Daniel just agreeing with every flaw pointed out to him, I don't see how it failed lol.

When I heard him say he wouldn't wear it in public I just cringed for him because I got what he was trying to say but then sitting in front of John Lewis and proclaiming privacy is history just made me wonder just where they have found these numbskulls!

As for the girls, I thought the idea wasn't THAT bad. If they could have found a way to incorporate the solar strips into the design it would have looked better but they literally just stuck em on. They should have ditched the lights because they were pointless.

Has any good pitch ever used role play? The very concept seems embarrassing.

Yes, obviously the orders don't reflect real life, or I doubt whether anyone would ever get any orders. The prototypes generally look unattractive and cobbled together whatever the product is, and in real life they would be in a world where someone will take months working on a prototype before getting a chance to pitch it to a big company. I guess the brief is something like "would you order any of this product if it was a properly completed prototype with professional producton processes already lined up?"

It did seem to me though that absolutely everything about that jacket was wrong. A tailored wool jacket was completely wrong for something gimmicky and only emphasised how hideous the solar panels looked. You are moving into Cyberdog territory with external solar panels, not Hobbes. And don't even get me started on the jacket that will only warm up on a sunny day...

Would have been a lot nicer to have some sort of piezoelectric strip in the lining of the shoulder or elbow that generates a little electric every time you move your arm to charge an internal battery to then power the USB in the pocket. Forget the lights on the lapels completely.

I suppose it depends how many 'spare' apprentices he has left. This week he could've still sacked Rob and then done two final boardrooms and sacked another from each team.
Later in the series he might've had to just cancel the treat and let them all live.

I must say I've never seen a task where the candidates come up with tenuous excuses NOT to be the PM.
Normally they are fighting amongst themselves to be PM.

"You can be PM as your background is fashion".
"Ern, I'm high-end and this is high-street"
"Erm, I only do scarves to Indian people from my market stall"
"You're big into technology"
"erm, only online stuff, not hardware"

I hope any future sales numbskulls take this episode fully on board.

Do not boast about your amazing selling skills, ever.
Daniel did the usual cliched stuff and was really found out.
If he was found out by a couple of buyers, just think what Claude would've done to him.

In our house we thought we'd missed a rule because we were gobsmacked that nobody was doing an LED running jacket or an integrated MP3 player into a gym kit. So when they showed up at the "sports retailer", well!

There have been some equally inept performances in the past (I also thought Secret Signals!) but agree that I've never seen so many people try not to be project manager. It was embarrassing.
