Something Dara said to Robert tonight: 'You are the first person ever to be fired without even being brought into the final three...' This is incorrect. Robert is the earliest boardroom casualty ever, but actually Jenny Celerier was also fired without being brought back into the boardroom.

Another example of this was that last year, Dara told Alex that he was the first ever Welsh candidate. That annoyed me anyway, because they were leaving out Young Apprentice, but that's a moot point because I have found out since that Sophie Kain in Series 3 was also from Wales. I wish they'd be a bit more thorough in researching the history of the show, especially now that they're doing the 10 years theme with lots of references to past series. When the fans are more informed about the series than the producers, that's just embarrassing.

Jenny was brought back in the second (and not final) boardroom though (from what I remember). Robert wasn't, as he was fired straight after the girls had walked out with their win.

Seems obvious that he was referring to Robert being the first person to be fired right after the task result was announced, but just worded it poorly. Possibly it was also something that Dara threw in of his own accord rather than the producers telling him to say it, in which case you can forgive him forgetting about Jenny since Adrian Chiles was still hosting You're Fired back then.

What about the first Welsh candidate thing? That was a huge thing, not just a throwaway comment from Dara.

One other thing which immediately sprang to mind is that Robert proudly claimed himself as the tallest ever contestant on The Apprentice at 6'7".

The tallest contestant on The Apprentice was Matthew Palmer who was 6'9".

Apparently, to my surprise, Matthew was in Series One, but for some reason I remembered him being in a later series. If he's the same person I'm thinking of he was eliminated first, was obviously very tall, wore glasses, and if I recall correctly was quite eccentric and wore a fancy hat. But anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about any of this.

Celerier was fired at the same stage as Robert, second stage after the winning team had left. Rob was fired quicker in terms of there being utterly no conversation before he was booted, but both he and Celerier were fired outside of the final BR

You're right about most of it, but he wasn't actually eliminated until Week 5. In the first four weeks, he was on the winning team every week and had a win as Project Manager, but by a complete fluke as he was a pretty incapable candidate and was out as soon as he was on the losing team. He does, however, hold the distinction of being the first ever male candidate to be fired - in Series 1, the first four people out were women.

That's not quite how it went down. What happened in the boardroom was somewhat different this time. After coming back from Loser cafe, there was the usual boardroom back and forth. Then Sugar declared that it wouldn't be the usual thing of brining back 2 people, but that everybody would come back. He sent everybody outside, had his discussions with Nick and Margaret, brought everybody back in and, after more talk, fired Jenny Celerier. Then he sent everybody back outside a second time, had another talk, brought everybody back in again, had a third dissection session, then fired Jennifer.

So, while the candidates did leave the boardroom and come back in after Jenny was fired, and Jenny wasn't fired as part of the final 3, she was fired at the time when someone usually would be fired as part of the final 3, after having left the boardroom and been called back in.

I see your point, but I still consider that to be an extended part of the initial losing boardroom. The only thing that changed about it was that Sugar wanted more of a chat with Nick and Margaret, so he sent them outside. I don't think that the format of the boardroom changes that much because of that.

He explicitly said that he wasn't going to do the thing where the PM chooses 2 members to come back in but that instead everybody would be coming back, then he sent them out for the first time, then fired Jenny, sent them out again, then fired Jennifer.

But when he fired Jennifer, there was still a final three, because Alex was allowed to go back. I consider the final three to have been chosen by Sugar and not Jennifer, and Jenny to have been fired prior to that. The fact that Sugar wanted another chat with Nick and Margaret during the first boardroom doesn't really matter to me. But I can see that there are other ways of looking at it.
