All any of the current ******* want is to emulate the aforementioned and get some meeja career, banking money for nothing.”
The show has never produced a Sugar. Its produced few entrepreneurs. Its also had one inventor win. It has produced lots of successful corporate managers, bankers, advertising consultants, people who run small scale organisations or recruitment agencies , and top sales people. Its also produced a lot of people involved in training, public speaking and presenting work. More Apprentices lecture about being entrepreneurs, than have become major ones . Many also do major work for assorted charities.
The few successful entrepreneurs are probably headed by Susan who has set up what she offered Lord sugar with his help. They actually include Michelle who has had a strong career in her own field (IT) works at job creation, and has set up successful companies in other fields. Leah who has set up her own business. And Luisa - who has also set up what she said she would- whilst doing a wide range of other things. There's no reason why a successful entrepreneur should spend all their time at one thing if they can make more money , and have more fun, doing other things too. A cook book, or a month on TV, make the same or more money as a month in the office. Making children's TV programmes like Saira, pays the bills in a less destructive ways than a lot of well paid careers do. Its certainly no less creditable than selling flats to the mega rich, or bakery , or working as an investment banker - which is what probably the most succssful apprentices now do.
There's very few people who are famous for doing no one quite knows what - other than becoming a celebrity. Katie creates her own attention and market. But there's no obvious difference in being someone who most people wouldn't want to read about, or being an entrepreneur who produces something most people would never want to buy. Its just operating in a different market, selling different talents.
