Sadly it is hardly unusual in Soap to have multiple members of the same family killed off (Donald fisher in H+A comes to mind, 3 out of his 4 children dead, a nephew dead, the boy he loved as a son (shane) dead and a grandchild paralysed). Even in Hollyoaks 2 out of the 3 Benson children died, liewise the Burtons and Kanes so whilst it's not nice, the viewers will get over it.

I'm not sure the family view Niall in the same way as the other kids due to not having grown up with him and what he did to them whilst he was around.

oh yes how could i forget the burtons, however they did both die together and the kanes was very stuid and unrealistic based on the fact that both siblings died literally on the same day but in total different circumstances, one of them could have lived and just left with their mum and other sister.

Myra will be upset for a few episodes at most and then forget she's greaving
There may be random name drops

Sadly I'. Inclined to agree.

They've always taken Carmel for granted and treated her like ++++. If it was the blessed Mercedes Myra would probably be in bits for months. With Carmel I suspect she'"l be inconsolable for a week and then it will be forgotten about.

Its JP i feel most sorry for. After all.he's been through this year he's going to lose his biological sister. They have the same parents and JP said in an ep earlier this year that Carmel's his fave sister so i hope they show his devastation of losing her. After the rape there really is no respite for his trauma. He also has to find out his fiancee cheated on him with a girl when he wouldnt have sex with him after kidnapping his rapist.

Unfortunately with the pool of characters in a soap cast being limited you get coincidences and interactions between people that would be very unlikely in real life. Plot lines need their players so runs of misfortune are going to be inevitable like for JP in particular at the moment and for Myra losing three children. The forced closeness of characters means that forgiveness and memory lapses are an unfortunate side effect.

Agreed.

Followed by a sympathy shag from Dirk.

Would you really count Nial as a McQueen? He was never actually in the family unit though.

Killing Tina was a risk but not a big of a risk then killing Carmel. Carmel has been around for years, Tina was just around for 18 months. I don't want Carmel die (plus she's the only genuine nice character, something HO is missing atm) but if I had to choose between Mercedes and Carmel to die it would be the latter even though I would prefer none of them to die.

Wait, they're killing CARMEL off now?
What a joke of a show it's turned into! Glad I stopped watching it when I did

I think, sadly, Carmel will most likely be killed off, as they can't think of any other exit for her. If it's down to that Sonny Valentine Hollyoaks will have a lot to answer for

So true, which makes her death all the more pointless

As Hollyoaks is a scripted show they can write whatever they like as it doesn't need to be real "for advice on real events visit channel 4 website" like it says at the end of the episode because it's not meant to be realistic.

People die every day anyway, we're all gonna die - that's a real part of everyone's life...the story of how these people die can be anyway they like as it's a script, it's a TV show...

TBF The Roscoes, The Carpenters and The Sharpes (LOL!) are pretty much the only family not to have a sibling or parent die on screen.

Bensons - Olly and Kurt
Cunninghams/Hutchinson/Richardsons - Max, Dawn, Gordon, Grace, Helen, Lewis, Dennis
Ashworths - Rhys, Beth
Deans/Osbornes/Haytons - Steph, Hayton parents, Becca
Hunters - Dan
Fishers - Malachy
Nash - Jamie
Bradys - Seamus, Nana
Kanes - Ash, Callum
Longfords - Texas, India, Alistair
Costellos - Heidi, Riley
Burton/Taylors - Twins, Ally
Owens - Sam
Barnes - Sarah
Lomaxes - Danny, Sam
McQueens - Tina, Niall
O'Connors - Katy
Andersons - Natasha
Savages - Anna
Valentines - Calvin, Mum
Devines/Blacks - Claire, Frazer

Considering they've been on the show for nearly 9 years the McQueens have done really well on the death front espcially as they've had more family members on screen than any other (16 so far)

This is what happens when you have a long running family or character, they get surrounded by death. Who could forget the grim reaper himself? Tom.

SNIP. Fantastic list vkmax. So so true. Hopefully the Roscoes will be cut down soon. There are so many characters you mentioned that I miss so much.

I wish they'd kill them all off, except JP.
Cannot stand them.
BIG mistake bringing Myra and Teresa back.

Pity they aren't killing Theresa off. An AWFUL character played by an even worse actress. What on earth possessed them to think bringing her back was a good move.

I thought it was weird when JP said that, I always thought his favourite sister was Jacqui.

Disagree! Bringing Myra back has worked so well as she has just slotted back in. It's Theresa btw not Teresa.

Also, JP is so annoying I would rather him be killed off and leave the rest of the family be.

I agree. I always liked Myra. Her one liners crack me up. Theresa on the other hand was not needed to return especially as we are getting two shiny brand new McQueens after Carmel and Mercedes leave.

I don't care how Teresa or Theresa spells her name she is a pointless boring character played by a dreadful actress.
How can you not like JP! At least he has some brains.

What annoys me is that Theresa/Teresa is a murderer yet we are supposed to like her and feel sorry for her. She confessed to killing someone, regardless of whether Sonny is a bent cop or not.

I'm sorry but aside from JP, the mcQueens are all basically chavs, who don't work and get away (literally) with murder.

Myra isn't so bad but her bleating on about how fab her family are all the time and dissing Diane for sticking up for Finn is laughable. Finn did wrong, but Diane as his mum was just sticking up for him, just like Myra does for all her muderous family!
