Was it not strange that no one mentioned prices. A jacket with all that tech in it would have cost a bomb. When did they discuss pricing. How come the buyers did nit mention costs. was this all a con and there was no buyers etc. Just another ruse to make an episode

It's not so much that it's a fake exercise, more that it's a simulation of one. Remember, the teams are thrown into an area that hardly any of them know about and asked to come up with an idea and turn it into a physical product in one day. There's nothing realistic about that.

In the real world it would take months or even years of research, development, testing (I'm not sure the girls' jacket would have passed any safety tests!) to get a product to the stage where it's fit to present to potential buyers.

The buyers place theoretical orders based on whether they think the prototype product they see has the potential to be worth stocking. They don't actually buy the product as such. Hence there's no discussion about pricing, safety approvals, patent infringements etc like there would be if this was a genuine business proposal.

The most expensive item would be the solar panels - there are these for £59 at Maplin, though I'm sure there are cheaper available especially in bulk. The rest of the gubbins and wires to join it all up I would think under £20. The jacket itself probably cost considerably more!
The boys sweatshirt would've been considerably cheaper though.
