The Carters - Tonight was too much
PorkchopExpress
16-10-2014
I quite like the Carters, but I'm really getting sick of the sight of them at at the moment. We've also had fair too many set pieces with them all hamming it up together, like the abominable karaoke scenes tonight with Johnny and Nancy and their inflatable guitars etc etc.

It's not funny, just painful to watch.

Also, really disappointed in the Linda storyline. Is it too much for a soap to ever show a positive/empowered reaction to a rape? Linda is a strong woman in a very loving marriage. Why couldn't they just once show someone like her acting in character by immediately telling Mick telling the police and naming and shaming Dean?

Linda is the only one I'm sick off. Johnny, Nancy and lee all need a storyline and the carter adults having all the carter Storylines.

To be fair they weren't onscreen for a while not long ago, the other week it was mainly the Mitchells and the Moon/ Slater clan

Although if they're in every episode or a month or so then I'll probably agree with you, I think that they should have waited a while to introduce Elaine and give Linda small scenes here and there for a month or two and then brought Elaine in to sort things out

The one Carter I really don't care about is Lee, I don't know whether it's the character or his actor, but... I just don't care about him

I agree with you. I really think Linda is the sort of woman that would of reported Dean straight away as she's so strong willed. Mick would definitely of believed her version of events and not Deans, so I really don't know why she's keeping quiet.

When was that? The Mitchell wedding where Linda was maid of honour or the Moon storyline where Alfie confided in Mick about starting the fire?

With Linda's storyline ongoing obviously they are going to feature a lot now until it gets revealed.. I can bet ya after the rape if Linda or the Carters disappeared people would cry about it being bad continuity on here - can't win lol!

Just like they've had enough of the carters I've had enough of their haters on here - we have a thread like thread daily on here. It's not like there isn't any other story lines going alongside as well if it was just Linda's then yeah! No matter how much people on here dislike them they obvs have fans, voted best family at inside soap awards earlier this month

I thought they were great!

I love their little karaoke parties and the musical bingo was brilliant imo and people were dancing and singing and the fuzzy warm light heartedness was a good contrast to the darkness of Linda's rape!

damn those pesky kids again

I enjoyed it, the bingo and singing was fun. nice to have a bit of lightheartedness and fun to break up the dark and serious storylines

Kelpie Bright has said Linda holds back as she's convinced Mick will kill Dean when he finds out &thatd ruin his life &the family if that happened. But with no one to speak to shes not been able to convey this fear.
That's a problem with the story telling of her not being able to speak to anyone.

Why were they just too much tonight?
They're in every blinking episode ruining it with their tedious miserable stories.
Nancy has to be the most pathetic annoying character in any soap. Woman who acts more like a child but Mick and Linda are an even bigger turn off for .me. Worst family ever.

Completely agree, it's so cringe! Don't really agree about the Linda thing though

For gods sake! So many of these threads daily floating around.

I loved the musical bingo on Friday. It was nice to able light hearted scenes & Tamwar & Nancy's friendship is nice too. I liked Elaine, hope she's back!

Being a strong woman doesn't affect how you deal with rape.

You don't think clearly and you don't think like the person you are.

No Mick or Linda in the episodes on 27th and 28th October. So we get a break from them!

I think the way they have set the episodes is the problem. You had like 5 episodes on one day, then its 2 weeks later (Roxy said she was off on holiday for 2 weeks). So Mick calls Elaine 2 weeks after shes acting all werid.

It doesn't feel like that on screen. Whilst I think its good to set more than one episode per day it can feel disjointed about the timeline of events.

I don't think Linda would have reacted this way either, it just seems a way of prolonging the storyline.
