Performance is the key. Fantasia won it last year with her OTT rendition of songs like "Summer Time" and others. She didn`t have the best voice but her performances (and "yeah yeahs" ) won it for her.

You obviously have a dislike for Fantasia , but I have to take issue with your statement she didn't have the best voice as I think she did by some margin, it was individual , musically and technically excellent ,and watching her performances against this current crop , well there's no comparison .On voice alone I think she deserved to win , (Her voice has actually continued to develop since the show ) The fact that Fantasia had and still has more stage presence than almost anyone out there at present ( evidenced by her recent performances )was just a bonus

and the fact that you called Fantasia's performance of Summertime OTT when all she did was sit on the stage and give a performance that left many of the audience in tears just demonstrates that you have your mind made up about Fantasia well in advance of her performance , when she makes her appearance on AI4 I predict accusations of OTT , screeching style over substance all of which in my opinion is negativism from people who still won't accept that the best person won

True, but it certainly helps. The biggest reason why the US has not produced a real successor to David Cassidy, is that what's sold in that market today is based around pretty boys - often in collections - singing boring formula songs, or uninspired cover versions.

Within the UK and EU markets, the Brits have produced a massively succesful solo male, in the form of Robbie Williams. An act that works due to a combination of good, sometimes great pop tunes, a flair for showmanship, and looks, in that order.

Lol Zip! Your manky windaes are universally infamous! lol

I think you just might have finally picked yourelf a winner in Bo! I think he's definitely gonna be among the strong contenders to win. He is the most consistent (apologies for repeating what I said on the favourites thread) performer so far. I think the last four will be Anwar, Bo, Carrie and Nadia and it will really depend on consistency in performances who will go through so this could bode well for Bo.

Get those windaes cleaned, I'll be passing your way again some time soon and I'll be inspecting them! lol

Ah Robbie! I saw him at Knebworth. The guy is fantastic.

David Cassidy had a face full of acne which was air-brushed out of all his photos........my mum met him when he came to London (he was on a river boat of all things!) and she said he was wearing lots of make-up to try to cover up his spots. She went home and tore down all her DC posters! The fickleness of being a teenie!
