What a fantastic thread! It is so interesting to hear what people say about dance when they really know what they are talking about.
It's made me nostalgic for the early days of Strictly when it was more about the dancing. I loved it when there were only two dances per show. You could properly compare the couples and it was always instructive to see how differently couples presented the same dance.
I liked it when Len used to be picky about the content. I enjoyed being educated about the different dances. Now so much of what they do seems to be "in the style of" rather than the actual dance.
Dumbing down - it's a terrible thing

I;m afraid I don't know either, I even danced them ages ago when I danced Latin. Will have to wait for Kaycee and/or Bendymixer. Do like these when they are done properly.

Yes I am certain they are Flamenco, I recall doing these with the flamenco arm/hand shapes
bro is stumped too has done them but cant recall a name but something to do with zapateado in flamenco he thinks

Welcome! It doesn't matter whether or not you know anything about the nuts and bolts of dance.
Please feel free to ask anything dance related that you want to know, as there will almost definitely be someone who will be happy to answer.

Sure they have a proper name, but no idea what it is. We just called them ball-change appels - we knew what we meant even if no one else did!!!!! Not really my taste - too flamenco!

Great video - thanks for sharing. I love Ksnia, wonderful dancer. I wouldn't say the dance is Charleston, though there are a couple of elements in it. For me, it's more a mix of freestyle (not to confused with disco freestyle) and jazz.

They won: UK Argentine Tango Champions, 2006
IDO World Argentine Tango Finalists, 2005/2006 where they finished 3rd place overall and were winners in the Show Tango section.

I think they are 2 times IDO World Argentine Tango Show Champions.

Apparently not, they only entered once and were placed 3rd. There is no IDO record of them winning the Show category but I have no doubt they did. This competition has nothing to do with the Mundial World Championship and is a organised by a general Dance Organisation.
The title UK Argentine Tango Champion was gained at a very low-key event with few entries and not a particularly high standard. This was a feeder competition for the Mundial but Vincent and Flavia did not travel to BA to compete in the main competition.
My own opinion is that they were trophy hunting in 2006 to add to their CV rather than trying to make a serious impact on the AT scene.

Perhaps you would be better off posting in one of the AT threads as there are many AT knowledgeable people out there and I'm sure they don't visit this one, ballroom and latin based

What is the step called in Samba where the man and woman are side by side and take a few steps backward (obviously more complicated than I just made it sound :P )? Sometimes they'll turn 90 degrees and do the same again. Thanks all!
