Where or how are they doing that?

Incredible

I was not expecting Jake to be good. I thought he'd be a middle aged middler.
At 42 hes no youngster- and hes an incredible dancer, Just incredible. Its hard to believe we're only in week 3 of the series by what we see when he dances.

For me hes a highlight of the show. Hes a definately a finalist & a real possibility of a winner.

For those that dont know- his character in EE is a DICK!!

Cringe factor? Oh yes

Jake is really good but I still don't like his shoulders. All his rhythm in his feet and hips seems to stop at his shoulders and they still look stiff to me. He has got plenty of weeks to sort that out though.

Hate Eastenders .. saw him once or twice and thought ... miserable, moody but decent actor.

Wow was I in for a shock. Luv the way he carries himself. Modest, calm, cool and physically so talented. He can go all the way !

Something tells me he knew it but never told anyone

Well he seemed to get more airtime on ITT than the others.

To me he is bbc's golden boy who can do no wrong.

Don't really get the sex appeal but I do love the way his reserved, dry-humoured character sparks to life in certain moments - performance and interviews.

As has been said up-thread, it's nice to see someone who seems to be really enjoying the experience without overly gushing about it. Now I'm off to check the bookies, because I think he might well have this one in the bag...

I am having a flashback to Tom Chambers, the golden boy of the BBC(or many convinced he was getting extra points and airtime because of this), the horror and outrage when he won. It was fixed of course. Yeah right.

Same it happening with Jake, who is a brilliant dancer, has no more air time on ITT than any of the others, going by what I am watching.

Go Jake

Big surprise, best male by a mile but does nothing for me at all.

He's clearly the best male at this point (or imo). I don't even consider Simon as close competition at this point, though am hoping he will step it up post the Charleston performace as it will be nice to have more competiton at the top alongside Jake, Pixie, Frankie and (to some degree) Caroline too. I just think it's more exciting when there are more dancers as proper competion for each other than not (imo).

My mother doesn't care much for Jake's performance face in the up-tempo dances, but that's just a personal like/dislike on het part, it's not in sync with her opinion of how she feels about his overall dancing. I myself personallly have a slightly different view of his Salsa to some (or prob many) viewers and fans of his. Aside from the overall enthusiasm, control of speed and well executed tricks that I really appreciated, I found it sometimes a bit jerky, say in comparison to the more fluidly linked up Salsa movements I have seen generally in life (away from Strictly). So I think on that count his performance was never going to be a 10 or even 9 for me personally, but def a solid 8 for the performance aspect of it. I think he's a nice surprise for the show, as I think on paper before the show started the talk was focused on the younger fellas (and so called poster boys) like Simon, Mark and Thom as the ones that would grab all the attention and votes, and it's nice that an unsuspecting person has somewhat nabbed it (so far) instead.

He brings fun, personality and entertainment into his performances. The show would be boring without him. I only watch for his dance

His performance face is a bit of a number - I find myself attracted and repelled by it in equal measure and this adds to my enjoyment.

I have backed Jake to win the show, but I thought last nights dance was more like a Skinhead Moon stomp than a Jive.

I don't watch EE but I'm really enjoying Jake's dancing.
However, I wonder whether a lot of viewers look for a more outgoing personality towards the end?
He does remind me a bit of ramps though...

I thought he was great up until last night. But I think that was his worst performance to date, and he was overrated in my opinion. Pity, because I had thought the jive was going to be perfect for him, but it was all a bit clumpy, none of the Travolta's there.
It was still very entertaining, but I thought Pixie, Simon and Caroline were better, with Frankie about level, she was also a bit disappointing.
They are definitely the main contenders in my opinion. I can't understand why Simon isn't getting more praise, I thought it was a great charleston ?

'It' is not Ebola is it? I recommend quarantine. And staying away from farm animals. Or bats.

Jake is definitely the one I look forward to most this series. I don't find him attractive or watch EE but he gives the best performance for me each week and his hip action is fabulous.

He's great - he's getting into the show and doing the work but he's humble about it all and if he's going well he's not going to shout about it. He seems to keep his head down and get on with things. Even on ITT he's not overly chatty about whether he's doing well or not - quite literally he keeps his head down a fair bit in the interviews with Zoe, if you watch. Good on him; it's about learning to dance.

I'm another admirer of him on Strictly- I don't watch EE so didn't know him before. I, too like the way he just approaches the work in the exact way he should, determined, unfussy, understanding precisely what is needed. And he's entertaining to watch.

He's a good dancer but he was overmarked last night. He tripped and was quite messy! I think he will win though.

As for sex appeal, there is something for everyone out there! I know some people have him as their weird crush but I don't see that sexiness. There are other people who aren't good looking who just have sex appeal, I don't see it for him.

Same here. I find him so uncharming & unattractive, but that's only my opinion. He seems pretty popular.
