That's the beauty of human nature we all find different types attractive.

For example I can see Thom is supposed to be attractive but to me he looks like a tree with a face carved in it.

EDIT: just reread what I said about Thom. I don't mean it in a horrible way. He seems lovely and I enjoyed his dance this week. I was just trying to make a point.

Oh I totally get what you're saying and I also understand your comments pertaining to Thom..does nothing for me either, despite being quintessenly handsome.

I also never got the swoon factor from Artem, all I saw was a scowly not too attractive face with massive too white veneers....now Aljaz on the other hand *swoon*, I find him gorgeous.

Agree and agree Artem did nothing for me. Aljaz is lovely, though not only because of the cheekbones etc but because he seems a sweet, funny man.

I agree- I kind of worry it's about to cross the line into gurning, but he just about keeps it on the right side for entertainment and enthusiasm.
I know someone who works on the Eastenders set and she says he's popular and really does, IRL, have an inexplicable appeal about him.
Personally, I see his dancing flaws -feet too wide apart, occasionally heavy-footed, funny arms at times- and yet it also adds to the appeal of watching him; there's a certain rough-diamond appeal to his dancing that always makes me curious to know how he'll handle a dance.
I would dearly love to know just how much of an inkling the producers had that he was going to be good when they signed him up. I noticed on the launch show that he had a natural dance presence and ability.
He's just very watchable.

Do you have a problem with the many other celebs who have brought their kids onto the programme?

I am in my 60s so I think when I put on my T.V. to watch a light entertainment show the people taking part need to have charm and charisma, dont have to be classically good looking, personality goes a long long way as does an ability to dance( thats how Chris Hollins and Tom chambers won, not the best dancers but charmed the public including me, Tom was amazing in Top Hat.
Jake Wood might be able to wiggle his hips, but for me not at all pleasant to watch, cant help it it is my personal opinion he makes me cringe.

I feel the same...but it's Simon, Thom and Tim who've been making me uncomfortable this series. I've felt the need to walk out of the room when Tim was on - no idea why as I think he's great on Bargain Hunt. However I found the way he had his hand clamped on Natalie's shoulder during the last two interviews on ITT really creepy and slightly insulting to his wife.

Whereas Jake is such an enigma, I find him strangely fascinating.

Horses for courses and all that....

He is very, very good - but he leaves me cold.

I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying watching him. I gave up watching Eastenders a long time ago and I couldn't stand him in that.
He's just got something and I can't quite put my ginger on what it is. He's got a dimple that seems to light up his face somehow and makes him look really attractive even though he's not really my type. It makes he look sexy somehow.

He didn't quite have 'it' when he was in 'Only tools and horses' many years ago.

He wasn't very appealing when he was in Red Dwarf either.

But he was rather more civilized when he was in The Illusionist.

yes...but how come he is sooo good? Who is buying in to the fact that he or caroline or sunetra or indeed half of this lot have 'no previous dance experience'? at all.Ever.

Surely even Stevie Wonder could tell that they have!!

He said he used to play the drums so will have a great sense of rhythm and I guess playing in a band/reading music/acting would be an asset too in remembering and following directions.

He's also seems fearless - no embarrassment whatsoever or holding back in his performances which in turn makes him much easier to watch than some. Sunetra has that skill too - she's another very watchable dancer..

And both are actors. Somebody (Thom?) spoke about Jake going into his zone before each performance, which I took to mean getting into the character he's going to be for each dance. Both he and Sunetra have spent their working lives being characters they're not, and may well take the same approach to their dancing.

Jake definitely has it, look at this thread, it is 5 pages long and still going strong

I've decided...........I want Jake to win.

He is far from perfect and is still rough around the edges but I like that in him.

He is my guilty pleasure - so sexy on Eastenders!
Put a tenner on him to win when first heard he was going in - 17/1 - not sure he will win but can't believe how good he is!

I got 20/1 on him. I reckon he'll have an army of Easties devotees voting for him.

I put an e/w bet on him before the show started and got a free £5 yesterday so stuck that on him too win 😊

His top line looked a bit dodgy on ITT last night and that left shoulder position looked positively ugly. He needs to sort out his frame if he is to win. His bottom half (hips down) is pure magic on the dance floor.

I have a sinking feeling that, in comparison to his latin, he'll be lack-lustre in the ballroom dances; his tango in week 1 seemed to show promise, but then when he was given the waltz, which is usually a shoo-in to shine in, he didn't- much though I wanted him to. For me, his charm is the rough-diamond quality he's brought to the latin, and he didn't show as much grace and charisma in his waltz as I'd hoped.

I've watched East Enders for years and Jake has been a revelation to me, I didn't know he used to play the drums but, as you said, that will have given him a sense of rhythm, he really does dance with "gusto" and I've watched all his dances several times .... hope he goes far in this competition

I don't think it will matter to be honest. Sometimes you get a contestant on SCD that just seems to capture the publics imagination and heart with either their unexpected abilty or a one off incredible dance and they gain enough loyalty and strong support to go all the way.

I'm thinking in particular of Chris Hollins but also Tom Chambers and Darren Gough. I think Jake has it in the bag - at this point anyway.

My Dads a drummer and while he may have an excellent ear for rhythm he has all the dancing grace of an elephant
