Very probably. But no-one will be able to absolutely guarantee that it will work unless they have exactly the same PC (including OS and software) and TV as you.

The odds are that it will work perfectly fine but there is a very small chance it won't. The only way you will find out is to buy one and try it.

Thanks, both of my HDMI Sockets are being used ie SKy and NowTV so no room for the HDMI Cable for the Computer connection. So is there any kind of double HDMI adaptor I can get?
Really would like one that we dont have to reach around the back of the TV to switch between sky and Now tv and the computer everytime we swap around or have to turn one off at the mains for another one to work etc...is there some kind of splitter which auto detects or maybe has its own remote for switching between sky, NOWtv and the computer monitor etc?

why bother with all that, just use the vga connection, i have my laptop connected to my monitor through vga and the picture is just as good as hdmi.

You can buy various Hdmi adaptors and switches.
I prev used a 3 into 1 hdmi hub, with its own remote control.

You are assuming the OP's TV has VGA. Not all do by any means. And since I can't find any reference to the make and model of TV in this thread we can't tell if there is a VGA socket to connect to.

Just buy that and connect your other HDMI convertor to it.

You may have to put your other devices on standby for it to auto switch.

as the previous poster said the model of tv is in the OP, i checked and it does have vga. i just don't understand why he wants to buy a hdmi adaptor when all he needs is a vga cable...

To make a choice you need to factor in.

The supported resolutions may not be the same using VGA (which is analogue) and HDMI which is digital.

Using VGA will require the purchase of a separate audio cable to deliver analogue audio, using hdmi will deliver digital audio and digital video using a single cable link.

The VGA cable and separate audio cable may even cost more than the all digital connection.

If the OP wants to use a Webbrowser on his TV, I think he may be disappointed as from a normal viewing distance to make the text readable you have to zoom in to a webpage which means endless scrolling. It's OK for streaming content from the likes of youtube but a very cheap separate box like the £10.00 (Sky supported) box will do a better job of streaming video and audio anyway.

OK i HAVE IT ALL CONNECTTED VIA HDMI CABLE USING THE ADAPTER and my tv is showing the back ground screen of my computer, ie the windows screen which is behind things like the internet explorer symbol etc...but its not showing anything else, like if I am playing something on computer its still only showing the desk top background only, the sound works fine though....

are you saying it is stuck on the home screen, what happens when you click on something?

Do you also have a computer monitor connected? I assume so if you are able to use the PC. If so the TV is acting as a desktop extension. So try dragging a programme window over to the right of the computer monitor and if you keep going it should appear on the telly. (if that doesn't work go left).

If you go into display properties you can get the monitor and TV to display the same thing. Though in this mode both screens must use the same settings, which may compromise one of the displays if they have different native resolutions. Having extended desktop means both displays can be set to their optimum settings and you can run two things side by side at the same time if you want.

I would like to know what you are ultimately trying to achieve ?

Are you playing downloaded files or something like that ?

There are loads of devices which work really well in streaming Files from your PC to your tv.

Games consoles like xbox 360 do this through a thing called DLNA .

Media streamers can replay from internet streaming sources like Netflix, Youtube and the UK broadcasters catch up TV services, directly from files copied to a usb drive or from devices on your own system with a DLNA server if the box has a DLNA client installed.

Similar capabilities can be found on Blu-ray players, pvrs etc.

If the OP simply wants to replay digital downloaded content on his TV then a £25.00 or so mini media player with usb capabilities will do what he wants.

As you say if he says what he wants to do exactly it would help. The thread title indicates he may simply want to emulate a smart TV.

If so a media streamer box (Sky Go, WD Live Tv or Roku for instance) will do the job.

Many smart phones and tablet PC's can also connect directly to a TV by hdmi and offer streaming sources like Youtube and all the major TV catch up services.

Not entirely sure I understand what you mean here. For a start are you talking about Google the search engine or Google Chrome web browser? It makes no difference whether the program window is on the TV or the computer monitor it works exactly the same.

And I don't know what you mean by can't find it on the computer screen? If you could open whatever it is before you dragged the window over to the TV screen then you can open it a second time (assuming it lets you open it twice) in exactly the same way as before. Or is that not what you are asking?

Or have you dragged the icon off the computer monitor over to the TV? In which case just drag it back.

As for the colour. Just dive into the TV menus and adjust the colour as you would for anything else you are watching. Most modern TVs adjust the settings independently for each input so adjusting them for the HDMI the PC is on should not affect any other HDMI input or watching Freeview.

To have Google on both screens, you have to set your computer to duplicate. To have it as one big screen and drag stuff from screen 1 to screen 2, you use extend. For duplicate displays, the screens usually have to be the same aspect and resolution.

windows key + P

OK what I mean is I brought up a webpage using Google Chrome. I could not see it on the TV, so I did what you said and I dragged the google chome page to the right of the screen and it began to appear on the tv from one of the sides of the tv screen, I had to drag google chome page until it was completely off my computer seen until it was full on the TV screen. Now I can not seen to be able to get the google chome page back onto the computer screen, yes I have put the arrow to the right of my computer screen and tried to drag it back but to no avail?

How can I get what I see on the computer screen to be seen on the tv screen without having to drag things from my computer screen so far to the right that they can no longer be seen on my computer screen? but can be seen on my TV screen.

OK I pressed windows key + P and then duplicate and it now shows what is on my computer screen on my tv with a perfect picture! Result finally achieved!!! Then when I want to go back to having a regular looking computer screen I just press windows key + P and projector only. So thanks all, its now working great, just waiting for the 3 way switcher thing to arrive so I can have sky, Nowtv and the computer connected to the TV as only have 2 HDMI ports on the TV. Hope that will work ok.

If all you want to do is view webpages via a normal Web Browser like Google Chrome on your TV, I wouldn't bother for the reasons I already posted. Webpages use text sizes that are designed to be read on a monitor display that is very close to you. If you view this on a TV despite it being larger than your monitor chances are it will actually look smaller from your viewing position. Think the bottom line of an opticians eye test chart. Get close to it most of us can read it no problem, same chart viewed from a normal distance no chance. The images/videos will look fine if displayed full screen on your PC monitor provided they have enough resolution to be viewed from your viewing position.

We don't have any details of your TV's resolution nor your PC's resolution, nor your TV's screen size, compared to your PCs screen size. .

In the best case your TV will have 1920 x 1080 pixels and so will your PC.
