Brilliant news! I love Maria Friedman in the role and Elaine is so watchable and one of my favourite Carter-related characters, and that's after only seeing her for a few episodes.

She is a natural actress and I hope she stays for longer. She must be fundamental to the rape reveal.

Hope it's a full recurring role tbh. I think that is what Elaine is best suited suited to. I hope to see some scenes with Shirley and find out more about this fire! she fitted in well with the family but I don't want her to get tired.

I like the way Elaine threatened Dean! She knows he's done something and that it involved some kind of unwanted attention. God help him when she finds out the truth and Mick finds out too.

She's fantastic, best new character for ages. I absolutely LOVED it when she told Linda to be wary of Babe - I've always said there's something sinister about her and Elaine is certainly no fool. She has Babe sussed.

She is fantastic - another Pat?

I think it is possible as I have never seen a character fit in so incredibly well and so quickly - it is as if she has been in Walford for years not just for two episodes!

I agree. I like the character of Elaine and I think she'll be more effective as a recurring character rather than a regular.

I hope Elaine will be around when the truth about what Dean did to Linda comes out. She said if Dean hurts Linda she'd make sure he'd never use "that" again - I'd like to see her make that happen.

I totally agree She's already one of my favourites, I hope she stays for a long time. Maria Friedman is one of the best (if not the best) recent additions to the cast, and she could easily replace a couple of deadwood characters at the moment.

I thought that line of hers was brilliant!

she strikes me as a character that can be used well away from the Square, any of the Carters can rock up at hers, if they need some time out.
