EE: Time for Sharongate 2.0?

Phil and Sharon's marriage is important because it is the culmination of 22 years of EastEnders history however I just feel that Grant was conspicuous by his absence. I hope that the whole Phil and Sharon marriage is not a 'happily ever after' and that Grant plays a part in ensuring that it isn't.
My idea would be to bring back Kathy (for a different storyline) and maybe Phil and Billy have a fight over Lexi. Billy tells Grant who comes back to cause trouble for Phil. Grant get's into a relationship with Kathy but Phil get's jealous. Also, Phil and Sharon's marriage hit the rocks as Sharon focuses on The Albert and they spend less time together. Phil has sex with Kathy and asks to reconcile with her but she rejects him and dumps Grant. Grant finds out and tells Sharon and then Sharon and Grant have an affair and plot to take down Phil. Sharon asks Phil to 'renew their vows' and he agrees, whilst she is having an affair with her brother-in-law for months on end. She contacts Marcus Christie again and hires him as her 'bent lawyer'. Sharon and Phil's ceremony arrives (it takes place in the Square) and takes place in front of all of Walford. Peggy, Sam and Aunt Sal also arrive for the ceremony. Sharon admits that she has been sleeping with Grant and hands her divorce papers to Phil but also tells him that she has wiped him out financially and this time it is for good.

I stopped reading at "My idea would be to bring back Kathy"

Whatever you put after that, I can't take seriously.

No they shouldn't.

I love like kathy back. Ees biggest mistake was killing off kathy, pete an angie off screen. They are probably going to have to kill Michelle off screen. Seems most of the original characters are treated with little respect and killed off screen.

I could see Kathy being brought back to visit Ian in a dream. I could buy that, especially if it happened right as the climax of Lucy's murder story comes about - Ian is stressed, and having a "visit" from his mom helps him through. It obviously wouldn't be for a long stint, but it would be nice to see Kathy again and it would be a believable situation.

Lisa had a faked death. Frank had a fake death. Den had a fake death. Nick had a fake death...
Please get real.

Fake her death for what?! Kathy is dead you have to get over it.

Exactly. I don't think she would leave Ben like that nor traumatise him over her 'fake death'. It makes no sense for her to fake her death and leave her child.

That was better than a fake death.

Do be nice now.

Lisa, Frank, Den and Nick are all characters that were more than likely to fake their death for some reason or other. Kathy is not. No way would she do that to Ian or Ben. So why don't you "get real"?

In response to the opening post itself, no we should not see a 'Sharongate 2.0'. Grant is. character left best in the past. And anyway, retelling recycled stories from the past is not healthy. A soap needs to tell new, fresh and vibrant stories that move it forward, not the same old stuff every decade or so.

BIB This! I don't want Grant to come back and don't want to see a tedious love triangle between Grant, Phil and Sharon. It would be boring. I don't like Phil and Sharon already let alone putting us through that.

What worked 20 years ago is not going to work now. They are all a great deal older for a start. Kathy is dead, Phil is not desirable and I have no wish to see Sharon in yet another wedding dress.
