I think the 7" Hudl is actually £80, as the EE tablet is 7" just use your existing wifi hotspot on your phone if you have an inclusive allowance like you would on Three, and not 100MB, but 2 - 5GB, so 20 or 50 times more data to actually enjoy and use your tablet.

That has to be better than 2 minutes and it's all over until next month... maybe that's all Wavejock has
Agreed Tethering to your own phone is a much better idea and a lot less restrictive.

In any case, do we know how good this tablet is? There are some really crappy tablets out there (1GB RAM, poor displays, low resolutions etc) and the Hudl2 is actually pretty bloody amazing for the money.
Reviews aren't too good. It sounds like something that might be OK for the low end, "my first tablet" market, but not much else.

One Plan SIM in my Xperia Z3. £15 per month. Unlimited data and tethering.

Hudl 2 £129. Select Mobile hotspot; Hudl 2 now has up to 1000GB of data per month (well, actually more but let's stay within the recommended amount for the sake of argument).

Bit better than 100MB. Only downside is that I need to have my phone nearby, and that I am less likely to get 4G on Three than EE.

If EE had included 250-500MB of data per month, I'd have looked upon it far more favourably. In any case, do we know how good this tablet is? There are some really crappy tablets out there (1GB RAM, poor displays, low resolutions etc) and the Hudl2 is actually pretty bloody amazing for the money.
I agree, 500MB or above and I'd have considered it a good deal, but as it is... with 4G, 100MB a month is not worth booting up, by the time you've updated some apps you've used your allowance and it's game over.

Multimedia
A lackluster viewing experience garnished with passable sound.
Camera
Well, at least it takes photos and videos.
They are scathing of the display

Display
One of the worst displays we have seen recently!
It is 1024 x 600, as opposed to the Hudl 2 1620 x 1200, so 4 times better resolution and with better viewing angles and overall better screen.

Conclusion

We have to start this wrap-up with our opinion about the display of the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 – it is really of very poor quality, with low resolution, awful colors, and bad reflexive glass that makes it hard to read when the sun is shining. It really is the deal breaker.

Not as long as they have the smallest coverage of any network for 4G and the highest usage for data making congestion an issue in many areas.
The areas that have the worst congestion also tend to have 3 4G. I have personal experience of Reading; where 4G exists in the town centre it is very good compared to the woeful 3G.

I can't see any offer of a PAYG tablet from 3. They only offer contract deals with 12 month commitment. No chance of a 4G tablet for £104 from 3! Best deal on offer is a Chinese Tablet for £99.97 and a separate Wi-Fi Device for £7.50 a month with 1G of Data. EE's offer looks more appealing for the same cost with the Alcatel as a 12 month deal. £120 Tablet and 1GB per month 4G from EE or £189.97 with 2 separate devices with the same data allowance (3G) form 3? You pays your money and makes your choice!

EE offer a low cost entry price for both 4G mobile phones and now tablets and that is what is significant.
So that means that the tablet has been "cost reduced" in other areas to give it a 4G modem, plus whatever profit margin EE wants on it to pay for the 2KB of free data they give it. The reviews suggest that it runs Android 4.2, pretty vintage.

You do indeed get what you pay for. A very low end tablet with a meaningless data allowance from EE, or a very good tablet for the money for not much more from Tesco.
