In fact had Pauline not remarried and Wendy was still with us, I think Pauline would have been amazing in the who killed Lucy plot”

If Pauline and Wendy were still alive then I don't even think we would of got this 'WhokilledLucy' plot. Instead, Wendy would of been the main focus as she would of been the longest running character on the show. Ian, Sharon and Dot probably would still have a big focus in the 30th but not as big as Pauline. Same as now, Ian is getting the most focus for the 30th with Dot and Sharon getting smaller stories of their own. I do miss Pauline and Wendy so much.

I'm suprised, I wasn't expecting any big characters.

No they really couldn't. Santer said he wanted to and tried to think up a plausible way but it wasn't realistic. She is gone and we have to deal with it.”

That's not actually true. Santer thought about doing it but vowed that he wouldn't bring back a dead character. He didn't want to take the risk. Writers under Bryan Kirkwood have said they'd do it but they didn't get the chance to. Taylforth revealed this in 2013.

Den was away from Sharon for 14 years.

Not sure, Pauline would have remained in the background compared to Ian. I wish Pauline was still in the show but obviously Wendy's dead and the character assassination of Pauline Fowler was absolutely criminal. Can never forgive them for that.

Fantastic. Finally a CIM sketch worth watching!

Sounds great! Though Cindy, Kathy and Pat should not even be in the afterlife in the first place.

Kathy and Pat forever in EE hearts.

Can we not just pretend like a decade of EE never happened and bring both back ?! It was ropey for a long time during the last decade anyway so it wouldn't be hard to erase.

I think one of the reason TPTB are doing this is to put an end to years of silly speculation about witness protection, etc.

If these characters return as ghosts, they are clearly dead.
End of story.

Nonsense. It's a Children in Need sketch i.e. a parody. In 1993, they did a sketch set in 2013 with Doctor Who. A couple of years back they did a joint sketch with Corrie. It's not ending any sort of speculation whatsoever.

True. All dead, never to return.

Next year should be the aliens land in Albert Square.

I do prefer these spoofy mini-episodes to the 'music videos' (though it's good to see who can actually sing and dance!)

They've done these for both Children in Need and Comic Relief; Catherine Tate, Who Shot Phil? (though it was about the actors trying to break into the BBC Exec meetings to find out who dunnit), East Street, Dimensions in Time, one where everyone's happy (Dr Trueman snogs Mo!) and the one I didn't enjoy was Alan Sugar.

I wonder what will Lucy say if Ian asks who killed her?

Agreed.

I'm happy Pat's last scene ever won't be that horrible death scene and that Kathy and Cindy will actually have a final scene rather than their crappy off screen exits

I actually, thinking about it, wouldn't mind jump the shark moments for Cindy and Kathy's returns. Unfortunately I think Pat's is set in stone.

What if they're ghosts in witness protection?!

For any character who has received an on-screen death it is not plausible to bring them back. However for the many that have been "killed" off screen it may be possible to find a way to undo past mistakes.

The only two I would like to see back from the dead are Angie and Kathy, both strong female leads from EE's past.

If the EE production team have twice considered (under Santer and Kirkwood) to resurrect the character of Kathy Beale then they must strongly feel that it is indeed possible to do so.

DTC should be brave and sit down with his team to create a plausible and well crafted and written return. I would rather they took their time over this rather than rush into it, screwing it up in the process.

I hope people DO realise that this will be a light hearted sketch for CIN that has absolutely zero relevence to the actual "real" show. Its just a bit of fun and a nice way to see old characters return.

It has as much relevence to the real show as when they do a CIN song and dance routine like most years. People are taking it too seriously.

I guess Lucy's ghost will add in something for the storyline
