"I voted for Karen and Natalie!"
You know what I mean!
I wasn't too impressed with the strange combination of Tony Bennett and Lady "Gag Gag" (well she should be). Still, it's the money I s'ppose.
I've a couple of Tony Bennett albums from my youth, but he always struck me as "second division." I liked him, but he struggles to reach high notes (always has) it seems such an effort. But now at 88, I think he's doing remarkably well, compared with some of his contemporaries of all music genres, who still tour but should have given up long ago.
Lady Ga Ga in contrast can hit any not you like, (loudly), but with neither tone nor any real emotion tonight.
Tony Bennett is another artist, lately following in the footsteps of Rod Stewart who turned to the jazz classics as he said it was less strain on his voice. That promoted a revival of interest from the classic tunes of the thirties, forties and fifties and other singers to record similar albums.
What did impress me was, as I expected, how much more suited to dance are the traditional, well-loved dance tunes played by a "big band," as featured tonight, rather than some of the X-Factor chasing crap we frequently have to endure on this show.
