Capaldi's hair...
...was in two different styles in this episode, I'm sure of it.
Now I never usually notice things like this and it's probably just bad editing, but maybe it's a similar scenario to Smith's jacket on/off thing from the Time of Angels and we're getting two versions of Capaldi's incarnation? The tough, gritty, harsh version and a slightly softer, more 'Doctorish' version? Or it's just bad editing. :-P |

The hair stylist got it wrong when Capaldi came on location, back from shooting Mummy.
That's the "Cardiff" reason. I'm sure we can speculate on the "in-universe" reason, no end

I noticed that his hair was more bushy when he left the tardis. I assumed it was a continuity error

I noticed this! Very very doubtful that it's a deliberate hair flattening mind. Though you be never know, maybe he did it to appeal to his flat enemy!

If you want to - add it to the "throwaways" thread at http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...002895&page=16 - trying to keep a list of anything that just might have the potential to be "something" |

It was quite a poor continuity error, tbh.

I'm wondering whether his scenes in the TARDIS and the location scenes were filmed at different times during the 8 month shoot? And his hair had grown.

Well he did have to keep sticking his head up against a door and path what was getting smaller and smaller that may have fattened his hair a bit

Maybe they cut a line
"Life support failing. Reactor core going critical. Hair gel supplies dangerously low!" |

Agreed. It wasn't just a styling error. I think the scenes at the end were filmed at a totally different time to the others. Capaldi looked more like he did in 'Into the Dalek'. I think his characterisation was different as well.

While Capaldi was trapped in the TARDIS, he was also off filming Mummy - just as Jenna was trapped in the train compartment while she was filming Flatline
![]() When Capaldi came to film his bits in the tunnel, there was a mix-up. [ Source: Part of Clan Mackinnon ] A simple continuity error - so no need to invent complex plot reasons for it. |

Didn't spoil the show, it just happens ...

I know there's no need. It's fun though.

Don't get me wrong I'm not nitpicking and didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story, just something that stood out to me that's all.

His hair was flat when he left the Tardis and banished the Boneless (with the others present ofc) as well as his solo scenes, then was much longer, wavy and pushed back again as he dropped them off in the final scene.
If it's a continuity error it's a pretty big slip to have a noticeable haircut - not just a slight trim - in the middle of filming an episode! |

I thought the two styles were intentional. The flatter style was there when the TARDIS was in trouble and the life support was failing.
So when the life support fails Capaldi's hair fails too!

I started watching my season 8 set today and can't help but noticing how normal capaldis hair is in deep breath compared to last christmas where it is bouffant. He reminds me of jon pertwee in that respect as his hair started reasonably normal on spearhead from space and progressively got more and more bouffant as the series went on.
