EE does have 'normal, everyday scenes', like people on the market, in the cafe, Ronnie & Roxy having banter at their house, characters interacting etc. I thought the bingo was light hearted tbf it's nice to have tense episodes but also light hearted ones

I find that EE is becoming more like the early 2000's again, watch any episode from 2000-2005 & they have 'normal, everyday scenes' too.

The scenes with Charlie/Ronnie/Roxy and Aleks were lovely, warm hearted, every day scenes. As were the scenes in the Vic with the older characters letting their hair down and having some fun. Tam and Nancy's friendship is natural, and at last we see him joining the land of the living.

I'd rather have dramatic laden scenes than scenes that to do nothing to advance storyline EE. That was the main problem of LN's tenure. Most scenes were filler and too everyday.
EE's trademark is gritty dramatic storylines . I would watch CS if you want more love and warmth.

even Ronnies love life is light hearted contrast to Linda right know, and given that this is Ronnie Mitchell, for her to the "light hearted" takes some doing.

I think they've got the balance right personally. Sometimes it's hugely impressive the way that a single script for one episode can all tie together and push everything forward from a story point of view. But I definitely think that is nicely intertwined with the everyday moments... everyday moments that don't become too saccharine.
