I've watched from the beginning of this series and I do agree that although Scott seemed to be enjoying himself on Week 1, from then on he has acted like a spoilt, petulant child who has found he isn't good at something and so doesn't want to try anymore. I'm just waiting for him to throw himself on the floor, start kicking his legs and screaming till he makes himself sick!

In answer to what can he do.............well he could actually try, practice and stop looking like the whole thing is beneath him OR fain an injury and bow out as gracefully as he can muster, leaving the door open for the contestants who are actually enjoying it and are trying to improve to stay!

I just watched the AS again, and it wasn't as bad as I had thought

i agree its not his fault he's not very good, and my thought was that he seems traumatised.... although i did find his back stage comments odd where he definitely seemed to be veering into craig kelly territory....

but equally i don't think its his partner's fault and there's no point crucifying her either... calling her a 'spoilt disney princess' is no more and no less of an empty projection than anyone who labels scott as not making an effort.

although i agree she isn't doing the best job with someone not only lacking basic / innate ability to move but who also turn out to be crashingly insecure, but that would probably always be difficult for anyone new to the show. i'm also fairly sure she didn't demand that he was dressed as a crab and i could see in the AS they both tried to do something much more contained and basic in terms of a simple but solid steps.

if people have taken against him unfairly, then it also seems people have taken against her for no real reason, it is only week 3 in the job, and who could have known that scott would turn out to be quite so fragile, i suspect even he didn't know it (a bit like gregg wallace).

i vividly remember the vitriol poured on natalie when she started, and then on aliona, and on karen, i guess she's next. sad, really.

I just feel really sorry for Scott, he's obviously not enjoying being on the show at all. It's a shame he wasn't out last night just for his own sanity never mind the fact that he really can't dance!

Ah, I think he is trying to improve. He is practicing and he so obviously wants to do better and get it right - being not very good at something doesnt automatically mean lack of effort and practice (as anyone who tried to teach me piano would testify. I know one at least still gets the nervous tic at Ode to Joy)

I just put that down to a combination of bravado and a result of his pro partner doing what all pro partners with skittish celebs do to actually get them out on a Saturday night, and telling him he has improved and he is doing well and this week will be better.

Yes, there is a difference between DJ and novice dancer but you would have thought there would be some sort of crossover in the personality stakes. My conclusion would be you obviously don't need a personality to have been a successful DJ for the last 15 years.

I agree but I still wish he'd gone this week - Tim seemed to be enjoying SCD and was entertaining - Scott looks like he wants to be somewhere else and is only entertaining if you like watching people make fools of themselves.

Exactly. Even if you are really bad at something you should still be able to find the joy of the experience. I really do not get any joy from Scott. He just looks like it is a chore to be endured.

Especially since Tim is much better suited for the role - I feel sorry for Scott I must admit but I wish he'd gone.

I'm not a DJ but I have very little sense of rhythm and I am enough of an appreciatator to understand how someone else could be more so and not have the ability to move in time to it.

In fairness although he was bad - the comments were not encouraging or constructive - if you are trying your best and get comments like that I can see how you'd be miffed especially if you'd been forced to dress up like a crab the previous week.

Except that it's actually Tim doing the column so if they were trying to keep the columnist in this week the beeb failed pretty epically.

I would challenge your conclusion. Scott has a great personality and in particular a great sense of humour. However he is not bang crash wallop funny and he is not particularly camp, he is the guy people want to spend time with because he is good company and makes them smile and sometimes laugh out loud. That makes him a great DJ in my book.

As for SCD I just think some people are taking it all way too seriously. None of the ones that have left so far have been particularly good. However surely it is a show about watching celebrities learn to dance, not a show about how good they are to start with.

I agree both Julian Clary and Russell Grant managed fine on SCD dancing with women - women that in a totally platonic way they got on with like a house on fire.

I was a bit gutted to see Tim go actually ahead of Scott - I didn't vote for Tim though and I feel it's the next best result that could have happened. There's only Judy left shielding the continued stay of Scott from the absoulte travesty stakes though.

I agree for my sins I did it to Karen who was also saddled with pantomine villianess role to boot. Janette had a rough ride last year too - look at her now.

I think if Joanne is struggling it's understandable as others had pointed out Flavia struggled with Craig Kelly and she'd had a lot more experience on SCD by then - it's hard for a new pro to know how to pitch a routinue for a novice. Kristina at least had the advantage of a celeb who no one excepted much of, a bit of ballroom ability and a personality people liked.

Maybe so, but I just don't see why they won't do it. There will never be complete equality all the time that programmes like this shy away from doing the right thing.

Thanks for enlightening me. To sum up what I've learned, the GBP are sadists and are voting for him just to see a fool make himself look ridiculous. The fact that he's begging for votes tells me he deserves the punishment of staying.
