Any tips on getting a quicker install date ?
Hi all,
I am set to receive my MAC code in the next few days for me to pass onto BT for their Infinity service and was wondering if there is any way that I can get a quicker install date, as they are currently saying that they wouldn't be able to activate my service until about the 18th November. Now according to their site they say as little down time as possible when changing to their service, imho almost a month without service is pretty bad. Has anyone else had this & managed to get a quicker install date ? Many thanks |

You won't lose service until the fibre is installed, the downtime will be whilst the Openreach engineer is playing about at the PCP.
As for speeding it up, 4 weeks is about right for the current turnaround. |

Oh thank you for that information as I thought that my current ISP would stop providing my internet the moment if not a few hours after me giving the new supplier the MAC code.

Turn around should be more like 14 days.

Transferring ISP yes, but this is an FTTC upgrade which requires Openreach and their turnaround is pretty much a minimum of 4 weeks before you can book a slot.
So all being well, I could be lucky in getting it earlier than expected, tho it remains to be seen if my current provider ceases my connection before the date of the Infinity install. |

The lead time for a transfer is 5 working days. Openreach also offer Saturday appointments for FTTC installs.
The longer lead time you were initially given is to allow you time to obtain your MAC from your current isp as this can take at least 5 working days. Once you gave BT your MAC the earliest appointment is booked. You will only lose service on the day of the transfer whilst the engineer changes you over at the cabinet. |
