Last year corrie beat EastEnders for the first time in years...

Taking into account Corrie was 1.5-3 million viewers ahead of EastEnders this time last year, and now the gap between them both is less than 1 million, with EastEnders beating Corrie at times.

It'll be a tighter race than usual between EastEnders and Corrie but neither will win the night overall.

I seem to remember Emmerdale this time last year getting the same ratings as corrie is now, and they dipped to about 5 million on Christmas Day, whereas EastEnders rose, the ITV soaps dropped... And corrie was nearing 10 million! I guess Christmas Day EastEnders obviously appeals more to people than Christmas Day Corrie, and rightly so...

I hope EastEnders wins the night overall, but I doubt it. I will be really happy if it turns out to be the case though.

Soap-wise, EastEnders. I have a feeling Coronation Street will dip a bit this year.

eastenders i think, with what they have got planned.

however a soap won't be the most watched show on the day. they aren't as popular these days. i think that honour will go to something like mrs brown, or miranda.

Emmerdale gets terrible ratings at Christmas because they show it at a terrible time of the evening.

The itv soaps tend to dip at Christmas.

If Eastenders is against Downton Abbey it will be tight. If it is against something else it will definitely win

The thing is everyone is saying EastEnders, but were people saying the same thing, this time last year?

Very true, but back then the show was still recovering from the Newman era and DTC had only just took over. The Xmas episode was actually really good, but this year the team have had a year to settle in and I can't wait to see what DTC has come up with for this year. The show is in a better place now than it was last Christmas.

Yeah definitely, it still had quite a lot of faults, but it's far better than 2013, and not to mention the gap between EE and Corrie last year was huge!

It depends on the competition on ITV
It depends on whether it is 2 x 30 mins or 1 x 60 mins

EE won't win the night - Mrs Brown's Boys will I think.

the ratings were low thought on friday for eastenders and corries still away in the lead with just over 7 million so am abit worried i think eastenders will probably just get the same ratings it got for last christmas which wasnt great.

I think Eastenders will probably win with the rape reveal and possibly the Shirley/Mick reveal.

Yeah, but the gap was like over 2 million this time last year. It's less than 1 million this year.

Because the nation apparently loves Corrie.

well we are almost in november and ratings back down to below 7million many on facebook and others have said theyve turned off because of the rape story or because they think its dragging on to long and im sure many of the general public who dont use facebook feel the same way explains why ratings have went down again. Dtc has been in the job a year and still many havent come back. Realistically and we dont have much time before its chrismas and with ratings low really cant see eastenders winning in the christmas ratings this year either. I can see eastenders getting between 7.35 and 7.45 million viewers and corrie geting something like 8.45 near 9 million mark think Corrie will win as most watched soap this year IMO.
