I don't know about the celebrity dancers but I've noticed with the professional ladies even though there's a lot of bare flesh on view, that I've never seen a tattoo on any of them.
I'm sure it would be impractical in their careers but I wonder if they have them and they cover them with make up.

Iveta has the eight-pointed stars on her collarbones covered up.

The death knell surely - I would just hate to see tattoo's on one of Strictly's lady Professional dancers - not really keen on the boys having them either.

There is a huge Xmas Spectacular show in Norfolk each year .... The biggest in Europe and they will not employ anybody who has tattooes.

I've noticed they seem to be going to great lengths to cover up Frankie Bridges tattoos. Bangles etc

Karen's got a tattoo of a 7 on her wrist but it's not particularly noticeable. The only reason I noticed is because she pointed it out on ITT once

Caroline had a big sun or something in the middle of her back the very first week. I remember because I'm not fussed on tattoos but it looked good in the dress!!!

I think it's a butterfly and, annoyingly,I find it quite distracting, but being as she can perform and move quite well,it's not too distracting.

I seem to remember Dani covered hers up eventually. No big deal for makeup to conceal them. Perhaps people should consider this sort of thing before they go ahead and cover themselves in Beckhamesque inappropriateness when they're half cut in Ibiza. Fast forward 50 years and you're still sporting saggy tats.....mmmmm nice!

Yes, that's right. Didnt mind it, where usually I really don't like them.

I must admit I have never been a fan of the tramp stamp when you are trying to concentrate.

I was at a dance competition a few years ago when, after the first round of a ballroom event, a lady dancer was taken to one side by the chairman of the judges and told to cover up her tattoo or she would be disqualified. The tattoo was just a small butterfly on the back of her shoulder, but very visible.

I think that gives some indication of how tattoos are viewed in the competitive dance world. No one actually says they shouldn't have tattoos, just that they shouldn't be on show during their dance.

With the show's headlong dash down market, I'm amazed they aren't compulsory.

Would this be the same for male dancers? James, Artem, Aljaz and Tristan have huge ones

The ruling says no tattoos on show. A lady dancer can have a tattoo providing she keeps it covered during a competition, which sort of limits the areas the tat can be put - if you know what I mean? As even in Latin most guys wear long sleeves etc. it is easier for them to keep them covered.

James, Artem, Aljaz, Tristan - and don't forget Robin - left the competitive field a good few years ago so could do what they liked. Shows such as Burn the Floor don't have the same preferences as competitions.

I'll never understand why people care so much about what others put on their bodies.

Yeah, I'm confused as to why some people care so much about not liking tattoos? Surely as long as the person who has them likes them, it's really nobody else's business?

I thought that was a very funny comment............................................then I realised I had misread it.

Yes i guess they could've got them after leaving but I just presumed they got them young as thats what most people seem to do. Matthew Cutler had one aswell if I remember correctly. Thanks kaycee

It isn't anyone else's business as you quite rightly say, but when it comes to dance competitions it is a cosmetic sport and, rightly or wrongly, whether we like it or not, appearance and image is important, and by entering that competition we agree to adhere to certain standards.

But I'm sure in a lot of cases they are put there so anyone but the person with the tattoo can see it and enjoy it or not as the case might be. Any that are on the back as many of them are, are never visible to the wearer.

And, call me old fashioned but I think there's a difference between a bloke sporting a tattoo in a dance competition and a lady.
