Basically what the title said. I'm hoping to get tickets if they are, my mum would love it.

Yes - mid November but the tickets are by ballot and if you haven't already entered it you are too late.

Oh, I'm in the ballot I've just discovered by looking at my e-mails, I must have signed up a while back and forgotten!

I'm a klutz sometimes. Do you know when people will be contacted?

In that case we both need to keep our fingers crossed that we get tickets then

I had my email for 25th October on Friday so on that basis the emails are coming through just over a week in advance of the show date.

They will do Blackpool during the Children In Need weekend as I asuume they will use the studio space at Elstree from CIN and possibly not enough time to put it all back together for the Saturday show plus studio rehearsal.

So I'm assuming it'll be November 15th/16th shows this year.

Schhhhh. I like them going to Blackpool; I wouldn't mind of they did the whole series there. I get that dancing at Blackpool is special - I have and its splendid. But it drives me nuts when they go on and on...and on about it.

Better Blackpool than Wembley with the terrible echo and the dais in the middle for the dancers to trip up on

And so much space that it looks more like an athletics meeting than a dance.

Well, didn't they all get robbed there last year?

They did. I wonder if they ever got any of their belongings back or caught who did it? I bet they didn't. I heard that the thieves used the underground tunnels under the Tower to not be spotted. Very embarrassing for the local organisers and bad publicity for the town. I live on the Fylde coast and I was very sad to hear of this. If they do return, I hope they step up security.

Here, here. The space is far too cavernous and that dais is just awkward. Blackpool is great for this show just as a way to pay homage to the history of dance that comes from the venue.

When I was judging there years ago the way in to the dressing rooms was in those tunnels and I always thought the dressing rooms were easy to access for anyone - not to mention the tunnels are horrible

I love the show coming from Blackpool but the true home of dance is the Winter Gardens not the Tower for me

I am glad you said that, as I am in full agreement. The Empress Ballroom at the Wintergardens is so, so special. I have goosebumps even when I think about it, the atsmosphere and ambience of the place, the best ballroom in the world. As James Jordan would say: fact.

A friend has been lucky enough to get tickets for Blackpool and she's asked me to go with her - I'm so excited!
The only thing is it says you need to queue from 12.00, and I was wondering if anyone on here has been, and if people queue much earlier than that? I'd hate to miss out on getting in
Thanks

See this thread for assistance.

Whatever the tickets say, I would say most people going will arrive at the queue before 12. The tickets are doubled up (ie if there are 500 places available to the ballot they send out 1000 tickets (500 pairs). I think at Blackpool there are more seats available probably about 800 but expect there to have been 1600 e-tickets sent out.

Two weeks ago the last two guaranteed places (stickers) for the ballot were given out to two people who arrived at the Elstree queue at just after 12 noon.

If you DEFINITELY want to get in I would suggest arriving before 12/well before 12.

No! The Tower ballroom is in the building which surrounds the Tower and it incorporates the lounge and various attractions including a dungeon attraction, and the Tower circus. There are underground tunnels which were used to transport the animals when the circus had them. I'm not certain but I've heard that the tunnels link the Tower to the Winter Gardens building and maybe other areas too. The Tower building is across the road from the seafront on "The Golden Mile" at the very heart of the town.

Blackpool has three piers, unsurprisingly called south, central and north! and "The Golden Mile" is the stretch between the three piers (which is 1.6 miles apparently!)

The tunnels are a bit of an urban legend. There was excitement some years ago when a tiled room was discovered, but it turned out to be a public loo from a department store in the 1980s. Would be fascinating if it were true, but there are a lot of sceptics.
