So sad. I was hoping that she would achieve her desire of one last Christmas with her family. It makes me think of all the thousands of people who are in the same position and the heartache it creates for all those affected by the impending death of a loved one through cancer. Horrible disease.

Lovely lady and very sad it's all been so quick. I think she's been wonderful in the way she's discussed her illness, as bowel cancer is still so difficult to talk about.

Poor, poor lady. She was a good sport on the programme, despite Wardrobe continually dressing her as a blowsy barmaid.

I think it was her Paso, maybe Tango - where they dressed her in scarlet and slicked back her hair, very femme fatale IMO.

Everyone knows the Oxo mum. RIP Lynda.

I can't remember her on the show, but I have been impressed with the way she met her death with courage and dignity. I am sorry she did not get to see Xmas one last time and condolences to her family

Sad to hear how she was only obliquely told of her cancer.

I imagine some here will have been through this.

It was very sad news this morning. I had been hoping that she would make it to Xmas with her family as she wanted to. I suspect that the disease had progressed further and faster than we were informed though and perhaps quicker than she had expected.

She faced this frackin' horrible disease with courage and determination. I admired her greatly for the way she dealt with it.

Having lost both parents, a beloved pet and several dear friends to this rotten thing, I am again angry at how indiscriminately it takes the lives of those who don't deserve to suffer so and leave us so soon.

Thank you for all that you gave us over the years, Lynda. You are now free of pain and suffering. RIP. x

Very sad news. Her last wish of spending what would have been her last Christmas with her family has been denied but at least she is out of pain and is no longer suffering. I'm hoping that their lasting memories of her will be her bravery, honesty and ability to reach out to others and her love for them.

RIP

I really enjoyed her (brief) stint on Strictly and think her Paso was particularly enjoyable.

Poor woman- she'd only just found happiness aswell with her "Mr Spain".

Fabulous Linda! We will remember your love of life and brave and humurous nature. Thanks so much Linda At peace now. Thank God for you. What an inspiration.

To all her family and friends please take the fun, strength and example from this woman to do something great with your life

A great friend of mine, when terminally ill, was driving with her beloved son and suddenly asked him to stop the car. She got out and leant on railings that looked down upon and over her home city's Christmas spectacle - markets and an ice rink. She shouted out "I'm here and I'm alive!!". She, unlike Linda, got her wish to see in a final Christmas and had a ball. She passed away the early hours of Boxing Day morning.
Whenever I'm feeling shi**y or something really not that important is pulling down my day, I repeat her super affirming life force slogan and it spurs me on, encourages me and stops me from getting down, as, for all we know we never know our last day and (Carpe Diem! Sieze the Day!) should live life each day to the full

I think many people hoped she would get her wish of her last Christmas with her family and she was so inspirational in her BBC Breakfast interview only a short while ago.

RIP Lynda

I remember her best in All Creatures Great & Small - required Sunday night viewing.

She was a lovely young thing, too. How sad.
