That's a tricky one - I know there's a lot of effort goes into being able to do work in parallel. It's possible that a smaller pool of actors and locations might work against that, as the same people are required more often.

Genuinely hard to rank. So many episodes hovering around the 8 mark.
I'd go with:

1. Listen
2. Flatline
3. Robot of Sherwood
4. Mummy on the Orient Express
5. Deep Breath
6. Into the Dalek
7. Time Heist
8. The Caretaker
9. Kill the Moon

Did some small revising of my scorecard.

1. Listen
2. Mummy on the Orient Express
3. Flatline
4. Deep Breath
5. Into The Dalek
6. The Caretaker
7. Time Heist
8. Kill the Moon
9. Robot of Sherwood

But for context, I have rated all of Series 8 Good or Excellent as I have found it a very enjoyable and varied series. With a shining lead.

EXCELLENT (5/5)
1. Mummy on the Orient Express
2. Flatline
3. Listen
4. Into the Dalek
5. The Caretaker

GREAT (4/5)
6. Kill the Moon
7. Deep Breath

GOOD (3/5)
8. Time-Heist
9. Robot of Sherwood

To put that in context, I have no major criticisms of Deep Breath, and very few of Time-Heist for that matter, so this really is a very high-scoring series. Equally, though, I don't think Mummy is on the level of The Impossible Planet, Human Nature, Blink, Silence in the Library, The Waters of Mars, Vincent and the Doctor, The Girl Who Waited, etc. etc., so unless one of the last two stories pulls some serious witchcraft out of the bag I can't see anything breaching my top ten. Really superb, though, some fantastic television. With it all laid out like that, I'm genuinely surprised by how low Kill the Moon and Deep Breath are.

1. Mummy on the Orient Express - Sublime. Only Frank Skinner let it down, but that's more than ignore-able.
2. Listen - Brilliant.
3. Flatline - Clara gets better every episode
4. Kill the Moon - I'm not a science type person, so I can ignore all that because the drama was incredible.
5. Time Heist - Really quite original
6. Deep Breath - Good, but much too long and too Matt Smith-y. Tired of the Paternoster Gang and the dialogue with them was particularly unnatural and jarring
7. Into the Dalek - Interesting concept but slightly disappointing
8. The Caretaker - Good in parts but more SJA than Doctor Who (not that I didn't love SJA of course)
9. Robot of Sherwood - Not bad by any means, just not up to the standard of the others. That said,
"Soiled myself?"
"Did you? Well that's getting into character"
is one of my favourite lines of the series so far.

Still the best series we've had for a long time, Capaldi is fast becoming my favourite Doctor and him and Coleman have amazing chemistry.

I'd give them 3/5 because it's been an average series. The show has become a mosnter of the week series where random gadgets and the sonic screwdriver are used as plot band aids.

Capaldi it good enough but just appears to play himself, Jenna is getting better as each episode goes and makes the show bearable even in the more boring episodes.

It's nice. I think those that are enjoying this series are really enjoying it. Makes me sad for those that aren't!

I'm struggling to remember a time that Doctor Who wasn't a monster-of-the-week series?

1 - Mummy on the Orient Express

Mummy on the Orient Express has totally unexpectedly exceeded all my expectations. It was more fun than I'd have believed it could have been, more successful than most standalone episodes are, and despite my disinterest beforehand I came away more than satisfied.
Generally Series 8 has been of a very high standard for me, just lacking in any extremely good stories. To put into context, Deep Breath was the only episode I really didn't enjoy and even then it has its redeeming qualities. At the other end, Mummy on the Orient Express was fantastic, but would still struggle a bit to make my Top Ten.”

I like you

I can't really rank them in this way but this is very similar to how I have seen them, certainly the top 4, though Time Heist was boring, which is a worse 'crime' for me than script problems, so although it was sound as a script I'd put it lower.

Robot of Sherwood was by the far the worst. It genuinely shocked me that that stale script was thought interesting enough or original enough to make it into the new series. It makes me wonder how truly appalling the rejects must be, unless Moffat just included it as a favour for his mate Gatiss.

Great to get so many varied opinions.; I don't think any two lists are exactly the same!
Overall, 'Mummy on the Orient Express' seems to be the most consistently rated near the top. 'Listen' seems to be 2nd favorite.

I'm VERY surprised that 'Caretaker' isn't rated lower. I struggle to see what ppl like about that episode.
I'm also surprised how popular 'Flatline' is. After last week's lavish sets and imaginative environment, this week felt visually 'flat'
For me, 'Flatline' is just an improved version of 'Fear Her'.

First time I've voted 'Poor' for as long as I can remember. I thought it was dreck.

^I might be alone in this, but one of the reasons I didn't like 'Flatline' was the look of the episode.
I like aesthetically pleasing DW - whether the action takes place on an alien world or in a 'period' setting.
Following in the heels of Mummy - with it's sumptuous sets and sophisticated society - the ASBO teens and graffiti-spattered walls of backstreet Bristol was quite a come down!
