I found this series to really test what a person is going to buy into, several episodes this series I havn't been able to go with, see the last three on my list and also the robin episode pushed close.

Past series had the odd one or two things such as towing the earth, the leaf in rings and people having their hearts stopped and started again in the power of three, but series 8 has really had a lot personally.

Just don't get all the love for Mummy. Was a good episode, I'd say it ranked around the middle of this series. Yet at the end I felt there were things hanging, unexplained, and that the ending was all a bit rushed and explained with more exposition than usual. I thought I'd missed something til I came on the forum and read all these glowing reviews most of which seemed to feel there was a lot more to be revealed about Gus etc. Ah, so things weren't all meant to be explained then, fine. Yet, come the end of the series, nothing in this episode was revisited, leaving me reverting to my original thought that things just weren't really explained. All of which leaves me feeling that it was a bit poorly written...

Dark Water
A deliciously dark episode. Moffat’s ideas and concept all come alive with some of his finest dialogue. Above all it felt like something new from a writer that has seemed somewhat stuck on his past ideas for far too long. Beautiful and odd.

Mummy on the Orient Express
A simple old school episode. Let’s face it, this is a popular one because it could slot into the RTD era with no problem. It could be Eccleston or Tennant running about on that train. It is fun and fast paced when needed. The companion is in danger yet still shows compassion for others and then questions the Doctors morals. Somewhat let down by the Clara Danny shtick but nothing too damaging.

Flatline
Another RTD esque episode with quirky and fun moments. What ‘Fear Her’ should have been.

Listen
Moffat rehashes and revisits his usual themes but actually manages to pull it off in a truly marvelous getting from A – B via Z episode. Danny Pink begins to come out of his shell as a character of interest but unfortunately it didn’t last long beyond this episode.

I doubt I'll re-watch any of the following again.

Deep Breath
Into the Dalek
Time Heist
Kill the Moon
The Caretaker

Death in Heaven
In the Forest of the Night

Robot of Sherwood (Another Moffat era episode that nudges The Twin Dilemma up one spot on the all time list)

3. The Caretaker - So so funny and a phenomenal character piece
4. Mummy on the Orient Express - A cracking episode with more great character work.
5. Flatline - Some superb monsters, hilarious at points and some stunning character work.
6. Time Heist - A good old fashioned romp with a very emotional core
7. Kill the Moon - A classic case of a great idea, poorly executed and rescued by the final scene
8. Robot of Sherwood - Very funny, some great Clara moments, but nothing to shout about
9. Into the Dalek - Very interesting, asks some great questions, but quite dull at points.”

Okay, series is over, time to readjust. Dark Water takes top spot and Forest the bottom, and I've also swapped over Into the Dalek and Robot of Sherwood:

1. Dark Water
2. Listen
3. Deep Breath
4. Death in Heaven
5. The Caretaker
6. Mummy on the Orient Express
7. Flatline
8. Time Heist
9. Kill the Moon
10. Into the Dalek
11. Robot of Sherwood
12. In the Forest of the Night
