Coronation Street producer Stuart Blackburn has confirmed that Jenny Bradley will be returning to the show.

Actress Sally Ann Matthews is reprising her role after more than two decades away from the soap, and will return to screens this winter

It was recently reported that Matthews was in talks to return, but Blackburn confirmed the news at a Coronation Street press event today.

Matthews appeared in the soap as Jenny from 1986 until 1991, and made a brief appearance again in 1993.

Jenny's stand-out storylines from her time in Weatherfield include being fostered by Rita Tanner and blaming her for her father Alan's death.

I was hoping this would be about King Phelan.

I was hoping Sarah Louise

wonder what the storyline will be or if it will be a pointless return

Thought this was about that drip who had a baby with Sean for a second.

She's been gone so long that many people won't remember her, and I doubt if many others will care. I'd much rather they had brought back characters with more potential such as Debbie Webster or Andy Mc Donald, even if they were played by different actors. Both have family still living in the street. Who has Jenny Bradley got? Only Dame Rita.
Sorry, not really interested tbh.

Rita's been crying out for a foster daughter to hurl cheques at and call 'Lady' for years, thank god someone is coming in to fulfil that most vital of roles.

Why can Corrie not move on. Whilst the present bunch of charaters are not the best do we need to keep going back. Its not just Corrie, all the soaps seem to do this. Are they trying to recapture the golden days although in this instance this is a backward step methinks

Strange one this. Out of all the characters to bring back, Jenny Bradley? It's hardly as if we've been sat here for 20 years thinking, ooh I really wish they'd bring Jenny back!

Indeed!

Who will be next? Angie Freeman? Jenny's mate, Flick?

I've hoped for years that Jenny might one day come back to haunt Rita so really hope they do this justice.

Sally Ann Matthews was very convincing in the role and the Rita/Jenny relationship became quite complex, so it will be interesting to see where they take it. IMO the Alan Bradley story was Rita's best storyline and Barbara Knox's best acting on the show, so this might do Rita's character some good.

I'm also wondering if they might be bringing her back as a possible partner for Kevin - Sally and Jenny were quite good friends so that dynamic could be interesting.

Just a little concerned that the comeback is happening under this producer.

Time for Dame Reet to order more cheques from the bank. Now that Tina and Dennis have gone, Reets needs someone to fuss over and spend her money on.
I never liked Jenny since she first came into it in the 80s. I don`t know why Blackburn wants to bring back returnees that weren`t that popular. Still, at least Jenny is better than Sharon Gaskill...not by much though.

I bloody LOVED Angie - fantastic character - a ladette before ladette's existed - drinking pints (I remember being shocked when she ordered them)

As for Jenny - I liked her - she was an excellent character during the Alan Bradley story - less so when No.7 was the "student house". Looking forward to what she has to bring to the table

I loved Sharon too - I had a crush on her during her 1982-4 stint. I think I cried when she left haha - I was 9!

I quite liked Angie. I've been sat here for 20 years waiting for them to bring her back, but alas it's not to be

I really liked Sharon when she first appeared. But when she returned on a few occasions I really went off her.

I'm too young to remember her, so I can't really comment on the character. I just hope this done better than Dennis's return.

I remember Sharon lusting after Brian...or "Bri-urn" as she used to call him.

I thought that they might have mentioned Debbie Webster on the show when Kevin was away looking after his Dad. Debbie and Kevin haven't seen each other for years, nor is she mentioned often, I think once maybe a couple of years ago when Kevin was on the phone to her.

Im okay with Jenny coming back. She did form a part of Rita's best storyline. I hope things don't end as they with the other 2 women Rita called her daughter like being ripped off (Sharon) and being killed off (Tina). Still this is Stuart Blackburn Corronation Street.

Rita would know one of those when she sees one being one herself.
