I think Maz is a bit lost to be honest which is a shame as he is a good character played by a good actor. I like Tamwar I he is a real downbeat character but with a good heart, and Shabnam also had the potential to be great, she has traits of her mother in her!

They need to give Masood a bit of direction, maybe a new love interest or something.

Not necessarily true.

The truth was, Santer did have a storyline lined up for her but he wanted her to be bit more patient before exploring the character.

He wanted to flesh her out first but the actress got impatient and left before she really materialised.

Ahh that's alright, I was just checking

I do agree with you though. There's been a complete change in her personality since she left so I hope that is explained. I think something definitely happened in Pakistan to make her what she is now.

I don't think they particularly need Zainab, but they need some decent screen time and a good story. We saw with Masood's behaviour change at the beginning of the year just how good they can be with great writing.

Zainab was awesome, but I don't think the family particularly needs her. They just need a story that will give them direction. I think there are snippets of story here and there, but things either never really progress, or they last an episode or two at best.

I hope they dedicate the same amount of screen time to Shabam's supposed secret, as they have done with the Carters and, I hope they develop the Tamwar/Nancy thing into something with meat, instead of it just fizzling out. Mas is the only one without a story, but if he's involved in his children's stories, then that might not be so bad - anything that develops them as a family is welcome.

On a side note: I think they've missed some opportunities in not giving Mas/Alfie more scenes, especially with both the families history with fires. Mas should have learned that Alfie set the fire after overhearing an argument between Alfie and Stacey, and wrestled with that knowledge for a while.
