Our June is 87. Her character, give or take. How long do we have left for Dot and where will the character end up? Will she leave, be axed? Sadly, it won't be long before the producers of EastEnders will pack up the character before June gets too tired. She's already on part-time and her screen time has rapidly decreased in the past few years.

When will Dot meet her demise in the show? I can see her doing another five years, but sadly no more than that.

June has said before that she will probs die off screen before they write her out of EastEnders. One thing's for sure she will never be axed.

It's not really something I want to speculate about.

Probably got another 13 or so years in her, or more if she has the same luck as Phil Mitchell.

It all depends on June Brown and her health although for her age she is doing wonderfully when you are approaching 90 anything can happen with your health at any time she won't go on forever however much we want her to. Dot will never be axed by the producers she has too much history and along with the likes of Ian, Phil and Sharon she is one of the few characters who has a job for life at EastEnders if she wants it. June Brown has previously said she will never retire so she may die of screen once June die's in real life herself, then again that could change should her health start declining. There is no set answer it is a case of just wait and see but with every passing year the end of Dot is coming nearer. June has done wonderful to keep going for so long my Grandma is the same age as June and i couldn't imagine her doing what June does.

No one can be sure, but I'd say years! June Brown is as for as a fiddle! June Brown is willing to do what she does, no one forces her to! She asks for the work, she requests storylines, she even crosses stuff off the scripts she doesn't agree with, and she said she wouldn't leave until she unfortunately dies in real life.

I'm so tired of these threads. Why do people think the producers are gonna kill her off. She'll die while serving in EE. She doesn't want to leave she says

She's doing really well, I'm glad she's keeping going. I didn't realise until recently that she is 12 years older than John Bardon who sadly passed away. It's amazing when you think about it.

Not exactly morbid. Actually, considering June's age I imagine this is something June and EE staff have already discussed. It wouldn't surprise me if an action plan was in place already just in case...

What I don't understand is why Dot Branning (who is 78) is still working in the launderette. Why hasn't *she* retired?

It's a difficult one...on the one hand, I could imagine TBTB wanting to send the character out with a big story. On the other, it doesn't seem right to kill her off due to her age. If that did happen, I'm sure it could only be if June decided she wanted to retire.
I wonder if Nick's return will spell the final heartbreak for Dot, and that after his upcoming stint, she'll be able to spend her remaining years experiencing some happiness with Charlie, Ronnie and her great grandchild. I guess that Nick's return will damage her relationship with Charlie, due to his lying about everything, but I hope they can rebuild things. I know EE doesn't do happy endings very often, but surely Dot deserves to have one.

I think we should call her Dorothy Branning, especially in light of the fact that she has the longest lasting marriage in the square

The loss of June Brown doesn't bear thinking about. Dot isn't my favourite character but I can't imagine EastEnders without her.
I would hope that Dot departs when June is ready...whether that be through her own choice to retire or (sadly) her death.

Its incredibly selfish for people to think they are some how owed an on screen death for Dot while June is still alive to film it.

June has said she will probably die while playing Dot and that's her wish. She might live another 15 years yet. That's potentially 15 more years of Dot. Why cut that short just so you can have your wish of seeing Dot pass on screen? Frank Butcher is the perfect example of a legend who didn't have an on screen death but was honoured in a far greater way with his funeral. It will be the same if not better when the time comes for Dot.

I actually can't believe people are debating this - if a old woman should be killed off due to her age! For all we know EE could be axed before she passes. I don't like saying that because it's not nice to chat about how long people's life will be.

Dot won't be axed. When the time comes she will end up like Betty in Corrie and pass away off screen. She seems so fit and active for her age, she could just go on and on. I do wonder though whether this might be the last big Nick and Dot story we see, I hope not mind you.

Why do you think Dot is so devout? She's hiding something, she was a right goer when she was young.
