ecc.curlit.com is there if the website's down (has it ever been up??) although it's got Scotland 16 Switzerland 13 with three stones to play...

Now corrected to 7 - 5; 2 stones to play
Eurosport showed the game finished 7-4 but have now said finished 7-5

Also good news is the Eng w thrash Belarus in the second division. Now, come on the Scots men this afternoon - on TV too. Notice the youtube site isn't geoblocked, after I've paid my month's Eurosport sub! Come in handy for the cross-country and biathlon though!

Huge apologies to England's men for missing their score - they were up at a time that doesn't exist this morning (v Croatia - only men's game on the ice) and beat them by 1pt so now lie top and 4 - 0 in division 2.

So a clean sweep (or should that be "Sviiiiipp"?) for GB this morning

Looks like a nice win for Scotland's girls this morning; important because you'd expect the Swiss to be one of the teams pushing hard for a play-off.

Sets things up nicely for their game against Russia. I need to try an get back for that, it's must-see TV

Scotland men went down 4-7 to Germany, so it's looks like being a long week. Top 8 place is the target now, to get to the Worlds. Next game, against the Czechs looks like being a bit of a must-win.

Was some shot from the german Moby lookalike in the 9th to get 4, nothing Scotland could do after that

Started to go wrong early, then was going right, and then a shot which had a five-points swing on it (had he drawn he could have knocked his scorer away I suppose) and the lad was brave enough to go for it.

2 - 3 now and looking gloomy. As Grassmarket says, we must hang in in there or the World's is in jepordy. Two more wins and we should be fine on that score - may need to play Brewster for his experience.

Well at least this year's worlds don't have Olympic qualification points attached I believe. Denmark and Latvia are propping up the rear - so hopefully the Scots will stay ahead of them.

I note we have the usual weird Eurosport scheduling. They are showing the bronze medal matches live on Friday night (all 3 hours) but only showing 1 hour highlights of the womens final on Saturday night plus 1 hour live of the mens final (repeated post the womens highlights) on Saturday afternoon. The UK snooker champs and skiing on at weekends take precedence it seems.

That was one of the scariest first ends I've ever seen Eve play, I thought she was going to lose a 5 or 6 at one stage if she wasn't careful. Letting the in-form Russian team take two from that mess there is a fair result.

Not a very pretty first half for Scotland there. Vicki having a poor game and complaining about her stones. The Russians under no pressure, knocking them about and always looking to score plenty.

Shame the commentator (Alison Walker I think) doesn't know the maximum you can get in an end - she said 10! Now THAT would be impressive, but I think it would need two errant stones from another sheet to gatecrash!

As for Eve's current game, hmmmm. Not going too well, is it? Could do with an early and big steal as the Russians won't give many chances when we have the hammer. However, earlier (w) in the second division - England 5 Holland 2 and lie joint 5th on 3 and 2.

Cannot blame a TV station for showing events that get higher viewing figures.

That was relatively short and not so sweet; Scotland lose 8-2 to the unstoppable Russia. Siderova looking the team to beat this week.

Oh, bugger.

It looked so easy for Eve to clear the lot and leave 1 or blank, and she goes for something that simply wasn't there.

So often it's all or nothing with Eve. She had very little to play at in every end, tbh.

IMO if it's risk and reward, even if her shot came off there seemed to be no reward. Anyway, every silver lining...we got to see the Finnish girls for the first time and clearly their position is no fluke, although Sweden should have won the game far more easier far earlier. But on saying that, in the 10th (9th??) the draw was a lot more difficult due to the outside guard ie. had to be played more firmly to keep it straight (thus could miss) or risk hitting the guard, which is what happened.

Anyway, back to Scotland, and I think they got thrashed twice by the Swedes before demolishing them in an Euros final (am I right?) so all isn't lost by any means. Great thing is if you suffer a big loss, it's not days before your next game, in curling it's often just minutes - but pity they have to sleep on it though!

Phew. A poor CZE final draw gives SCO m a steal in the last and they take the game by a single point. Couple of inches the right way would have put our World's seriously in doubt.

Gaah! 8-5 up, Eve just gave away a 3 in the 10th! 8-8 going into the decider, Scotland with the hammer.

Noooooooo!!! Eve short on a draw to the house, loses 9-8! Every game a must-win now.

What a shambles the end of that was, and EST are the team everyone beats. So now SCO w are looking for top-4 or a tiebreak, and if they lose tonight then it's looking like a scramble to be in the Worlds.

Meanwhile, ENG m are in charge v EST (Div 2) but the ENG w lost to Norway this morning, no surprise there. Hopefully they can win their final games to secure a top-4 place.

SCO m beat CZE to go 3 - 3, if they beat Russia but lose to Sewden they would eb 4 - 4 but with two winable games to come, so still good chances of a playoff. But must beat Russia first as Edin appears to be unbeatable!
