Looks like an extra end coming up for Scotland. I can't believe she can draw another one in there for two.

Thankfully I was wrong and she makes it by half an inch. Typical last stone Eve.

Another big game against the Finns tomorrow. And the Swedes will have the same against the Danes.

How about Horosho?

It doesn’t mean the Scottish men’s performance this week – but nice!

Looking at the final womens matches it all seems clear cut.

Finland play Scotland
Denmark play Sweden

The winners join the Swiss and Russians in the play offs – the losers go home.

Of course the men could have 4 more games to go – including the play off against the B division winner.

Yes, Finland got it together again to go to 5 wins so anything other than a Scottish win and it's off home.

Update on England men - the ECA got back to me and this is the situation >
"If the men finish first or second in the B Division they automatically get promoted to the A Division next season. If they finish first they challenge the 8th place team for a spot in the World Championship in March! And that could be against Scotland they way things are going at the moment!!!!!!!"

Looks like the Sco-Eng play-off could be a step closer. Edwards 2 down playing the last end with the Italians looking very comfortable clearing everything out.

Attention Scottish male curlers! Learn to WIN big games by following this ONE simple rule!!!!!! When you are ahead, don't let your opponents pile up stones in the house. Works every time!

Yes - they lost but so did the Germans.

I notice in the final standings they have Scotland and Germany tied in 7th - how do they decide who is 7th (and in the worlds) and who is 8th and in the play off against the B division winner. Do Scotland and Germany have to play each other in a tie break - I assumed Germany would be 7th as they won the head to head game earlier in the week but presumably not?

http://ecc2014.curlingevents.com/

Sweden, Italy and the Swiss are in the 1&2 and 3&4 play off games - with the Czechs, Norway and Russia fighting it out for the final spot.

The world challenge game - if Scotland are in 8th - is on Friday evening.

BBC Scotland's David McDaid confirms there's a play-off between Scotland and Germany tomorrow for 7th place.

If England do qualify for the World Championships then the BBC might cover it.

There is a tie-break, tomorrow(?) SCO v GER. Loser is 8th so they will, eventually, have a three (?) -game playoff with whoever comes top of the second division playoffs (two from red group play two from blue - so out of 4, 2 get promoted and the best has to beat Ger or Sco for a place in the worlds. Note, neither Ger or Sco get relegated, that pleasure went to pos. 9 and 10.

About as simple as you can get...

BTW I've not got through to the main website at all this week. Anyone else??

Thanks.

The main thing is Scotland are at least eighth so are in division A next year and so are in a position to qualify directly for the 2016 worlds - which is as we know when you start earning 2018 Olympic qualifying points. So it's not a total disaster either way - but just potentially embarrassing given Murdoch or Brewster would clearly be competitive in Canada.

Just out of interest have Scotland ever failed to qualify for the world championships?

PS Re the website I can get it to work in google chrome but internet explorer is tricky.

Not a clue about Sco being in all the World's both m + w, as a guess I would assume they have missed out at some stage. Homework when the event's over! As for the website, finally got through using a proxy server. thought proxy's were for dodgy stuff like Pirate Bay or getting through to youtube or facebook at school when sir's blocked it...!!
Didn't work originally in firefox or chrome.

SCO
or
GER........losers play.......Gold Medal Winners (Gold and Silver promoted) decided from B groups red (2 qualifiers) or Blue (2 qualifiers) playoffs.

B group playoffs are today (Thurs) 1pm
semi-final 7pm
Final Friday 9am - if the final contains England then they are promoted.

If England win the final they will play either Scotland or Germany, 3 times, for a place in the World Championships.

No idea how the Finnish skip managed two from the guddle that was the 9th end, but she did and is now 6-5 up. Eve with the hammer and, not for the first time this week, got some work to do.

Russians playing like Canadians and making it a perfect 9-0 for the tournament. Well done Denmark sending Sweden home!
