Three pull 'all you can eat data' from PAYG add-on

I see that Three have now pulled the 'all you can eat' data from the All in One 15 add-on for PAYG.

it is now limited to 3GB but now includes tethering.

You need to pay 25 for 30 days if you want unlimited downloads.

Now whether the All in One 15 still works abroad for feel at home, I have no idea. But this would also now be limited to the 3Gb if it does. The tethering probably will not work abroad.

I guess the days of All you can eat data are almost gone.....

On http://support.three.co.uk/SRVS/CGI-...,Case=obj(4097) they still claim that it includes 'All You can eat.

Rather misleading.

Well spotted.

EE's 15 pack which provides 500 minutes, 2GB of double speed 4G data and unlimited texts doesn't seem so bad now.

It still says all you can eat here:

It's still showing as AYCE as far as I can see.

I went as far as the checkout for the sim and it was still confirming all you can eat data.

The Price Plan page offers these add ons:

http://www.three.co.uk/_standalone/P...=1220464365215

Quote:
“All-in-One 15 Add-on.
This Add-on gives you 300 minutes, 3,000 texts and 3GB of data to use within 30 days.

All-in-One 10 Add-on.
This Add-on gives you 100 minutes, 3,000 texts and 500MB of data to use within 30 days.”

Perhaps they've made a mistake, or haven't updated the other pages yet..

I have submitted a ticket as I topped up having read the page referenced, only to then find that the data had changed.

I guess I could convert to contract, as I am fed up with Vodafone - but guess I will lose the amounts that I have topped up.

More than a bit annoying as I was just about to go with 15 deal this week! (And by annoying I mean ******* fuming!)

Still 3gb for only 15 is still the market leader.

and then underneath at the bottom it says:

"Pay As You Go plans do not allow tethering."

So a whole mish-mash of info going on.

Yes it does on a new sim - but not as an add-on for an existing PAYG sim

This was a mistake by Three, and they've now removed the references to a 3GB limit.

However it doesn't explain why it appeared.. is it something being considered for the future?

It does, on both.

Three say catagorically that there are NO plans to change the data allowance for the all in one 15 add on pointing out that it has gained them many customers and they would be FOOLISH to do that. I cannot help but agree.
I can only speculate as to where the rumour emenated from.

I recently went form PAYG to contract on three and to my surprise a few weeks later there was a credit on my account. I never noticed that it was a credit and called them up thinking they were charging me something I had not had but was told it was my credit from PAYG.

Not sure if this includes any add ons bought.

Just like with Skype for life, the one plan, three at home etc...

Services come and go.

Whether Three change their pay as you go plans remains to be seen.

It would be really suicidal for 3 to remove the AYCE data from their 15 every 30 days PAYG package.

I couldn't give a toss about there being as many as 300 minutes or as many as 3000 texts.

If you make a max of 45 minutes calls every 30 days, 3 would no longer be the better PAYG data deal versus virgin if they restricted the data to a maximum of 3GB. Even accounting for a more expensive call rate at virgin.

Apart from making calls bringing your top up balance down under Virgin's Big text and data package for 15, only data exceeding 3GB limit brings down your top up balance further. 3's top up balance goes from 15.00 to 0.00 when you select the All In One 15. You would actually have more than 3GB worth of data up to a maximum of 4.5GB for your 15 depending on calls versus 3's macimum of 3GB worth of data for your 15 with 3 if they suddenly ditch the AYCE from the All in One 15 PAYG package.

I hardly think it would be suicidal. Only a small amount of Three customers percentage wise are on PAYG, and each customers contributes only a small amount of revenue compared to contract.

I think it makes good business sense to do it, we need to start paying more for data, it used to be subsidised by calls, but with call revenues dropping and EU rules coming into force expect data prices to increase and allowances on very cheap plans to remove unlimited.

It has happened on contract with the tethering, it has happened on sim only for tethering for new customers, and as I understand it Three are ending PAYG unlimited.

If not now, soon.

If I don't make any calls on my mobile with Virgin's Big Texts and Data PAYG package I would get 4.5GB of data for the 15 so it would not be worth me sticking with 3.

I think I've only made 15 minutes of calls this month so far on my 3 sim. Even at virgin's 26p per minute call rate and e.g. I only make 20 minutes of calls in total, I would still have nearly 1GB of data I could use before the 15 runs out in addition to the 3GB I would get automatically on a Virgin PAYG sim. The top up balance would only go down slightly if I have used 3.2GB per month with Virgin.

It's the data that makes the 3 PAYG sim value for money, not the calls and texts. Having a shedload of texts and calls I don't use, I can live with as my dsta use more than covers the 15. For 3 to seriously restrict the data would mean I would be wasting money on loads of unused calls and texts.

Actually, they haven't done so very tidily: on most Three pages you are told you can get all you can eat for 25 a month, but I've still come across other pages on the site which refer to all you can eat for 15. It doesn't mean you can, just that not all the pages have been rewritten.

Three have a habit of this, probably means unlimited data on payg is going within 3 months. Just like the early one plan warning we had.

As long as the Ted Rodgers fingers option remains for over and above 3GB data use, 3 will not shed too many PAYG customers.

Just hope the AYCE remains for 15 though.

Glad it was a mistake.

But I also suspect this will soon be made permanent and AYCE data will be 25 a month.

Of course it will, they will remove PAYG unlimited soon I suspect.
