I've had phones/tablets etc delivered over the years (not from EE) and never had to show any ID. The driver just hands over the item and asks for a signature.

This all seems a bit bizarre for a SIM card.

Received the preloaded sim with no credit and it says will take 2 days to get credit in sim..No signature passport or anything required and posted by 2nd class delivery where as free sim was 1st class and waa quicker.
Inside invoice says...

ee dsr standard letter paym
Ee payg4g nfc combi sim
Ee payg topup leaflet 5

Registered disabled card”

That's a worrying thing if other companies do it as well, as I don't have a passport or one of those ID cards and my driving licence is the old paper one valid till I'm 70.

That's good, I think they must have messed up with they configured the CMS for that page, they must have configured it as all correspondence wise said your "phone" is on the way.

I had to go through the questions about credit check, how long have you been with the bank in years etc etc, then when the order was submitted I got an 'order referred' and a reference number.

I think I'll have to give them a call as there's still no update since the "phone is out of stock" email I got days ago, even though I never ordered a phone.

I received my sim yesterday with no credit.I called CS and asked why? She said sim is suspended but she sorted out for me.The letter says credit takes 2 days but she added fiver instantly.. After i hungup i got free 100mb data confirmation..Today morning when i checked usage there is a balance of £10.It happened because £5 topup was suppose to happen automatically within 2 days which it did today. Techincally after quidco cashback iam getting free 100mb data plus tenner for nothing..

I called up today and they have fixed the issue and are arranging for the sim with the 100MB of data a month to come out to me. If I hadn't have called nothing would have arrived she said as there was a problem with the website at the time I ordered.

After putting down the phone I received the following:-

Quote:
“Welcome to EE.

Your orders winging its way to you right this minute so get ready to say hello to your new SIM card.

Description - EE 4G SIM Card
Quantity - 1”

Brilliant, it says PAYG sim card now, not phone!

Currently waiting on a sim with a £5 topup to arrive. Also had the ID thing at checkout, but not a credit check.

Bizarre indeed if they do actually use a courier to deliver a £5 sim and check ID. The loss or damage of anything under £20 is covered by standard Royal Mail postage. It's good practice if actually ordering a phone though. The only time I ordered a phone online was in 2009 (pay as you go, O2.) Rather than checking that they were actually delivering the phone to the correct person, they had a rather ridiculous policy at the point of checkout; they couldn't sell me the phone as I was under 18, even though it was pay as you go and I had a debit card (solo, but they had no problem with that) in my name to cover the full amount.

Lucky in that case that they didn't check ID however; I gave my mum the cash and ordered the phone in her name and on her card, but she was out when they delivered the phone.
