I've seen a few people here recommend the Nova launcher to replace Samsung's Touchwiz. How easy is it to setup, and - importantly - how easy is it to remove if I want to. Is it just a case of uninstalling and will Touchwiz be there or will I have to restore the phone?

Think of it like wallpaper.

The wall (touchwiz) is always there and the wallpaper (nova launcher) can be stripped or put back up at any time.

Nova Launcher is just a launcher that runs a bit faster and looks a bit better. It doesn't replace touchwiz.

If you want to get rid of Nova you just un install it.

Just install it and go to settings, home and there you can switch between it and Touchwiz as often as you like. You won't lose or need to restore Touchwiz.

To be precise, you will be replacing Touchwiz Launcher (TWLauncher) with Nova, not TouchWiz. It isn't straightforward to remove.

You could try Google Now Launcher too. Then furnish your phone with the google apps and dont use the samsung ones, and it'll be fairly close, but you will still have a lot of bloatware, and it will never quite be as fast or responsive as a Vanilla ROM.

Nova is great mind, I've got the Prime version - I even paid for it! I'm not using it at the minute but its smooth and very customisable. Even has themes from Android Lollipop.

Yes true Paul it doesn't replace touchwiz and you can easily revert back to it
